ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Turbulence (then calm sailing, then turbulence) thread.

I've been down here since 2000 - it's been a while. I've been here since second year uni. People move around. That's not really the problem.

What's really needed is something that draws people to do the reverse. There needs to be a reason for people to want to move to the coast other than because it's cheaper to buy a house and it's not too far to commute.

There ought to be things like jobs and study opportunities for twenty-somethings to move in and thrive.

I thought the rumors were the FFA paid the players from the TV deal direct?

Was it a timing issue - E.g expect to be paid thursday but was in bank friday but due to our history any late payment is big news?

I have to say, this is the first thought that hits me whenever we see these rumours... I'm well past really daring to hope that that is all it is, but it does strike me that, as prone as the club now is to rumours around finances, it doesn't seem unlikely that a single bank stuff-up/late payment/whatever, would be enough to start the rumours again.

Interesting Middy.

Also the Peninsula has a high percentage of Bogans and they tend to be more entrenched as RL supporters.

There sure is plenty of your so-called "bogan" kids and adults playing every weekend at Umina, Southern Ettalong United and Woy Woy football clubs.

I daresay they were all watching at home.

I would say that, IMO, people my age and older are probably rusted on to the eggball codes. The younger ones are starting to see the beautiful game as more important.

I don't think there's as much conflict between the codes as some think. My young grandkids are both passionate about football and play (with & against stacks of "bogans" down here on the peninsula) and then go home to watch thugby on TV. Most of the A-League competes with cricket, only with oval ball games at the very beginning & end of the seasons.
Just a point about the "bogans" on the peninsula, the worst parent behaviour I have ever seen at children's sport has been from people from Terrigal and points north, including the "mother" who got herself kicked out of Umina football fields a few weeks ago. Her language in front of her own children, including lots of Fs & Cs, was appalling. The point I make is 1) there are bogans everywhere, not just on the Peninsula & 2) bogans don't necessarily follow the oval ball exclusively.

No argument there.
My wife, who is Aussie, but from the North shore......used to complain about the Bogans on the Central Coast when we first moved here. I work all over NSW and had to explain that they were just normal everyday Aussies and that apart from the Eastern Suburbs and North Shore....they are exactly the same as every other part of Sydney or regional NSW.
Btw to the Peninsula folk I wasn't overly serious about you all being bogans......nah f**k it....I was in Woy woy yesterday and stand by my earlier comments.
As to Terrigal peeps.....I have never seen any bad behaviour from those well groomed yummy mummies.

I'd like to retract any Bogan comments directed at the Peninsular community. I spent 2 hours at a function in Wyong today....holy f**k.....I will never ever slag off anyone from any part of the Gosford shire ever again.
The parents were very loving towards their child and quite sweet in a Macquarie Fields sort of way. I felt out of place as the only person without a rats tail...adult or child. And not having a facial tattoo......I felt underdressed as well.

I remember going to North Wyong about 12 years ago to open a business account.
The shopping centre was as close to those terrible sink holes they have in the UK that i have ever come across in Oz (only Ambervale near Campbelltown was worse) with 80% of the shops boarded up and a horrible ambiance. I took the order, promised to be back in 6 weeks and tore that page out of the directory.

This is a bit of a shame; not sure where you got the idea that the Central Coast Mariners Official Supporters Club would be discouraged from spruiking their ideas, events, and anything else, on a website for Central Coast Mariners Fans. The only advertising that is discouraged is for things like (in the extreme case of spam) cheap viagra pills/hand bags/sunnies/whatever crap that doesn't have a thing to do with football or the Coast.

If someone has a blog, another forum/website dedicated to the A-League, Mariners, Football in general, a business on the Coast where they want to reach potential customers... posts about them have not only been allowed, but actively encouraged, and will continue to be.

In the case of the CCMOSC I'm a bit puzzled why ccmfans hasn't been used at all to promote what the club has been doing throughout the season. CCMFans and the CCMOSC worked well together early in the season to bring a great pre-match function and "Retro Round", which was a huge success, and shows how well a little bit of collaboration can work.

This isn't meant as a dig at anyone; just that the idea of the Central Coast Mariners Official Supporters Club not being able to advertise on a Central Coast Mariners Fans website seems odd to me, and not sure where it came from.

. good to hear ... i just didn't want it to seem like a competition thing ... or to tread on toes (you guys put a lot of effort into this place so i didn't want to seem like i was hijacking)

. although i have no idea what went on ... there have obviously been splits in supporter groups in the past .....

Probably stems from the older times when there was the YA/CCMFans 'split' - e.g. http://www.yellowarmynet.proboards.com/

It doesn't persist in reality, but memories are long-loved.

..... and it made me politely cautious

. sorry it took me so long to respond ... but nominations are now open for committee positions with the supporters club if anybody is interested

There are a *lot* of pubs in Sydney where football is the top choice, especially in the city, east and inner west.

Its a pretty safe bet the overwhelming majority. I thought you were handing in your membership, still hanging around?
So it's gone from every pub to the overwhelming majority. If challenged again what will it become then?

As for your snipe, once again showing your ignorance.

I haven't renewed. I won't stop supporting my team or attending the odd game when I can but I won't be paying a membership. Also I didn't realise a membership was a pre requisite for posting on a website.
