ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The Socceroos thread.

We’ll probably get Tony Vidmar as interim coach then after a world wide search end ip with a Dutchman…
This is my fear. Very few os managers have done well with the Socceroos. Guus got us to 2006 with a very decent team that played reasonably well. Pim qualified through Asia easily and was close to getting a similar result to Guus but couldn't recover after the first match and his style had plenty of critics. Venables probably had the best team in 1997 - but we won't mention what happened there.

The rest of the OS managers over the years have been pretty crap have been pretty crap.

I'm not convinced by any of the Australian managers touted.

Maybe we need to start lowering registration fees so youth are more likely to play football rather than afl/nrl not to mention basketball!

We can't get more people playing in our area. There just aren't enough fields. Meanwhile a lot of cricket grounds in the area are being used sparingly each weekend for AFL. If they were used for football there could be 2 or 3 more fields used from 7am to 5pm each Saturday and Sunday.

Some interesting stats I saw quoted somewhere else. Love him or loathe him his stats actually stack up pretty well especially when you compare teams(cattle)

Away points per game in the 3rd round has Arnie ranked best since Pim

Pim 2.5
Holger 1.3
Ange 1.2
Arnie 1.6

List of coaches that have qualified us for the Olympics in the a league era
1) Arnie (twice), no one else

List of coaches that have gotten us past the 5th place south american team
1) Guus with the gg,
2) Arnie

List of coaches that got us to the r16
1) Guus with the gg
2) Arnie

Most wins at a world cup
1) Arnie with 2
2) Pim and Guus tied for 1

Also twice broke Pim’s defensive record

Round ball podcast said depending on agreement for ‘resignation’ but Arnie contract payout was 2 million!

If paid out in full, but even if not he’s probably still laughing all the way to the bank.

Popovic the new Socceroos coach. Not my favourite candidate but as the FA does not have the time or money to get a well credentialled overseas coach he will have to do.Like Arnie will concentrate on defence. What he does with the midfield and the attackers will be interesting

And what of the cost of not making the WC?

Arzani in coming. Problem isn’t our defense is not the issue and Poppa isn’t great with attack

But better than Aloisi

I reckon the decision was already on Friday when arnie resignation came public
Does seem like it's a foregone conclusion rather than a leak of how FA are leaning. I can't see Popa addressing any of the issues with our attack so it's a hard call to accept. He's an experienced coach but the fit does have a hint of jobs for the boys about it.
