ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

we've got some good minds on here - people who can pick their ways through a problem and delve into it, isolating the bad from the good and focussing minds on what needs to be excised without harming what is healthy...

...and then we've got fruitbat, determined to take a machete to the whole shebang because we're in a bad trot and disappearing when we're not.

Dibo, Dibo Dibo, (Sighs)
I've never advocated "taking a machete to the whole shebang". I DO however think management need to accept that they are part of the problem. (In doing this I am  "isolating the bad from the good" and wanting 'the bad to be excised without harming what is healthy". Take your pick.) They should be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes Comrade.
I actually agree with FFC regarding motherhood statements about the CoE, Canberra/members,our ACL campaign + recruitment, but I think the fans are treated as merely a source of income.
The franchise needs us more than we need IT. The proletariat needs to organise Siblings! Gold Coast fans had the right idea by boycotting games and got what they want.

The question now is whether we storm Bluetongue or the CoE (Winter Palace ) first.

Attn General Secretary of the Marinators Cultural Elite - Marxist-Leninist Tendency (Western Branch)

Comrade,
Marx would be very disappointed with you. You are clearly suffering from "False Consciousness" in accepting the unbalancesd power structure of a status quo where the bourgoise war-mongering capitalist-roaders oppress the working class supporters of the bolshevic Mariners. Off to the re-education camp with you!
Its time to picket the Blue Tongue gates and become shapers of the future instead of lackeys of the running dogs of Wall Street .

PS I give lessons in Dialectics (for a price).

Fruitbat - I don't think you're half as funny as you seem to, especially when you can't spot a pretty blatant pisstake. If you're always going to be a windup merchant (and frankly that's all you've ever been on here) at least pick your targets a little more carefully. It's neither funny nor particularly irritating, you just look like a dick.

Hugs and kisses, Dibo.

Ditto Dibo.
You seem to be the one unable to spot a bit of piss-taking. (Or do you think my post full of socialist jargon was serious?)
For someone who claims not to be irritated by that piss-take, you were certainly bothered enough to respond.  It was meant as a bit of fun, late at night after quite a bit of piss taking myself (my head hurts this morning) :)

On a more serious note about input by fans to management I'd like to make the following points.
1.Board members used to exercising power would probably dismiss with contempt any cap-in-hand approach by fans seeking input into the direction of the club.
They would however sit up and take notice if told that the most loyal supporters announced that they would picket the gates unless they get more say. Not only would they risk a financial loss but the PR surrounding such action would be widespread and highly embarrassing to them.

2.Gold Coast fans boycotted games and won concessions.

3.Jets fans had the guts to take Con to task.

4.The club cant function without fans-WE are the consumers and WE need to be satisfied.

5. I cant remember point 5 because my head hurts.

Why would we boycott games?

1) They would listen to any reasonable and constructive issue put to them by members - they arent idiots or arrogant lunatics, they are reasonable business people. They might not act on it, but they would listen

2) Irrelevant issue for CCM

3) And look what happened

4) I suspect the club is accutely aware that people are pissed off with the perfomances and results. I expect they are too. Define satisfaction

5) Dont drink and post?

Apparently we shouldn't show if we're not winning, or somesuch. *shrugs*

The day we succumb to that sort of thinking is the day they carve our headstone I reckon.

While i've been ultra pissed at the way we have been going lately and also some of the desicions made by Lawrie, there is no way in hell i would boycott games or picket the best run club in the country.

To do so would be foolish and show me to be a fan with no knowledge or heart.

Picketing or boycotting would turn away a lot of casual spectators & their families, possibly forever. It would also have an adverse affect on the players, thus causing their performances to plummet. Is that what we're trying to achieve?
It might, but only might, achieve some desirable outcomes, but I think it would cause more damage than good.
Sorry if I've taken a piss-take seriously. :)

I wouldnt even consider not going to games as this is my club, my team regardless.

+1 ...... I just wish the Mariners Board would start up a dialogue with the fans to discuss the issues. The perception is that they are twiddling their thumbs while Rome burns.

Hi FFC
1.They may be interested in listening, but what do you propose if they arent?
(Its no use just whinging on this forum).

2.Not irrelevent at all. GCU fans expressed their displeasure and the franchisee listened and acted.

3.At least they tried.

4.Lets see, you flagged a number of concerns earlier. How about  "Going to Canberra and f**king over the members/The disaster that was our ACL campaign/Recruitment/Etc" for starters?
As consumers of a product it is pefectly reasonable to express disatisfaction with declining quality.
For me satisfaction is fielding a team who has at least an equal chance of winning/losing. Its also a management who dont make the same tactical errors week in week out, management who don't take fans for granted, management who dont play favourites, management who dont cry poor for 5 years as an excuse for not recruiting players capable of the task asked of them.

5. An outstanding poece of advice:)

I don't believe they are twiddling their thumbs...
I'm sure they're working very hard. Have to be stupid not to be. And two official signing announcements this week was nice.

However, I just think it would be helpful to have more of a dialogue, regradless of whether we are burning or not. Otherwise we lose a single game, let alone bloody five, and our fans tend to start running around with pitch forks screaming "burn em!"

I blame the years of unexpected successs... But what you gonna do? ;D

Hi ScottMac
its no use being annoyed by the decisions and just venting here then.
I dont think picketing/boycotting/protesting show that you are someone  with no knowledge or heart. I think it shows that you are someone who sees a problem, someone prepared to act to rectify a problem, someone who it prepared to forego their enjoyment in the short term to achieve a better long term situation.

Have they carved GCU's headstone?

No, but I hope we bury them regardless.

But Fruitbat, come on, saying lift the seating cap or we boycott... is a liiiiiiiiitle different than win or we boycott.

As stated many times, I think the high expectations high demand is a juvenile approach and not one a smaller community based club like ours, certainly at this point in its development, can afford. Big picture needed.
