ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

lol.

Now, I can't help but imagine the scene from "A Fish Called Wanda" where John Cleese and earlier Kevin Kline, whisper Italian phrases that Jamie Lee Curtis is gets off on...

Substitute DV whispering the names of exotic South American coaches to Fozzie...

:vomit:

I feel so dirty.

Sheer joy at beating the scum :)
IMO I think GA is a goose, with no real endearing features .... however he has been signed (but why 3 years? ... ugh). Like it or loathe it, the deal is done. With new players coming on board, we need to get behind the whole squad, including GA. I've deposited the crappy ACL campaign 09/10 season the to rubbish bin already. It's got to get better from here on....  Roll on next season!

"Arnolds lack of diplomacy in dealing with local and foreign-based media has indeed been a hallmark of his tenure with the Socceroos, its origins in an ill-advised attack on non-other than Goal.com Asia Editor John Duerden in the build-up to the 2007 tournament."

never trust a media outlet with a personal axe to grind - it just reads as a biased smear campaign now

Yeah I felt a bit that way.,.. shot themselves a bit in the foot with that really.

Whereas it is, very hard to go past the Hiddink/Verbeek endorsements.

Though I do agree with Jaza... But finding another coach of Vitislavs quality, Jaza would still be no EASY feat - and I think we also clearly have a long term vision of the coach required to be at the club. We are building to ensure we have a long term future - so we need a coach willing to commit to being around for awhile - hence the 3 year deal - and also I would think on a recuitment level, in Australia, GA can offer more than most foreign coaches could in terms of exercising his contacts in regards to our academy and the CEO.

Makes sense to me.
Don't know this for fact, but I certainly think its what they have in mind.

Personally always loved that we think big picture.
Then one day we hopefully will be able to spend to match the bigger clubs season to season.

The time has come the Walrus said to think of many things of Cabbages & Kings ( from Thomas Coral Alice in Wonderland)

Now the time has come to support our management in appointing Graham Arnold as our coach for the next three years.  If we look to the Mariners management history they have done most things right.

In management you are required at times to make tough calls, unpopular calls, this is the un-comprising  position of a capitalist system. Management raises and falls on its ability to make the right call even not the popular call. If management make a unpopular call and it fails then they in affect sign their registration letter.

Our management has made such a call,  the media expects all seem to think this was a good call, Guss & Pim have high praise for GA.

GA failures are well documented, but their can be no doubt in working under Guss & Pim he has had excellent training.

The time has come I think to back our management the Arnold Out thread can start if he fails. Until then I have come to the opinion our management would be aware of GA coaching record and general non acceptance by the football community. They have made a call with full knowledge of his record and they want the team to succeed.

So just like in Hal 1 and through to today I have always said on the big calls in Australian football .. in Frank Lowy I trust... to do the research and make the right calls most of the time. Following on this logic I say we need to trust our management.

Meaning that we are now for better or worst we are part of Arnies Army and lets start to support GA as we would any new appointment... if he fails we can ask many questions but until then lets support him.

For the record, my personal view is that this will be a complete disaster both on a football and PR/community front.

However..............I hope I am proved 100% wrong and will refrain from being unduly negative initially.

Best I can do
