ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

IMO what the club needs now is someone to do exactly what he's doing.
My first reaction to the announcement was "oh no", but then I saw what he had to say in the press.

Obviously the majority of our 15-20,000 fans that CCM was pulling at the end of season 3 are results-driven bandwagonners.

Those people will see/hear of GA in the media announcing new signings, a more proactive approach, and a considerable cleanout.

Part of the crowds that slackened of with the results might be back at the start of next season out of curiosity - just to see how the changes look. We won't see a return to record crowds until we are getting good enough results be near the top of the table, but to be publically announcing that we are "doing something about it" is where it needs to start.

And we need to get our crowds back through the turnstiles before Sydney Rovers start cleaning up any "former" Mariners fans from NW Sydney.

Listerning to GA on local radio he seemed very happy with matty. macbreen and nik as the strike team and will be concerntrating on players who can feed them so from that  I take it Macbreen is not going anywhere and that resigning Nik was his choice. Also restated that there will be 8-9 players gone with out deliberating on which ones.

Has Nik resined ... i.e. will not be back with us ....

LOL, bad luck, Nik hasn't resigned, he has re-signed. The peculiarities of the English language. :)

Damm ...

I really hope he can put his and the team's performances where his mouth is. If he can then I think we're in for exciting times.

Don't knock it, if he can keep his goal-scoring performance going (7 in the last couple of months or so), things will be good.

I was very impressed with his statement about needing players that will feed the forwards. I think this is exactly what is needed. I too, have felt very sorry for Matty, and Nick in the latter part of the season. Far too little decent service.

Absolute mediocrity:
Finally, what are your targets for the club?

Over three years, to get the Mariners back to where they belong. I want us to be a club everyone wants to come to, and no one wants to leave. And I want the stadium full every week, people on the street talking about the team. You have to set goals, and our goal will always to be in the top four.

Come on Jaza, you expected any less??  We've both travelled to watch this idiot manage a team before.....

It disturbs me how easily most on here are being led on by some wanky P.R. - and don't give me that "international football is a different beast" crap, is it still not 11 vs. 11 on a field of grass kicking a ball around??

Your right, the game hasn't changed serious... he has.
Clearly grown ;)

The fact is you don't need to be a tactical genius to win this league. But you do need a good squad though. So when it looks like the club is going to spend combined with GA's saying the right things about recruitment, of course people are positive, excited and willing to look ahead and not just back.

Word out in multliple countries looking for players with pace who can go past players and are hungry for the ball wanting to play and feeding strikers!!!

I mean comoe on!
:vhappy:

Besides being exciting, it is EXACTLY what we know we have been missing. I donlt think it is just some general PR. I think he has a plan.

What's not to like?
:innocent:

Is Arnie going to live on The Coast?

looking for a house at terrigal

What is it about Terrigal?  Much better places; that perhaps don't make good coffee and have bars I suppose.

Avoca has it over Terrigal for village atmosphere and and beach by a mile. Place to be seen, I guess. I think we had a thread on this earlier this last year.

Edit: Sorry, still in 2009 mode

We all know about Arnie's history and we all understand the doubts about his appointment but right now he is talking the talk; time will tell if he can walk the walk... but it will be very difficult for him not to outdo Lawrie's seven wins in 38 games (and if he can't he won't be given the same latitude as Lawrie).

That's the thing - Lawrie was instrumental in getting a team for the coast, a premiership and two grand finals. Not a bad record. The seven wins from 38 was only allowed because he had enough credits banked.

GA comes in with none of that - if anything he comes in with an antagonistic core fan base. The fans are not happy with results, not happy with style, not happy with GA from Northern Spirit, the Asian Cup and the Olympics.

GA has plenty of latitude to remake the squad. He may have learnt from Guus and Pim - I don't know. I certainly hope so. I just know that the bar for success for him will be lifted - as it should be.

Arnie's not worried about cost! Were obviously paying him a motza, a coach of his experience and quality commands big dollars you know!

Then once you take cost out of the equation, Copa kills those three in beach and village atmosphere.

lol, if we're somehow paying GA motza, why would we go for him in the first place, IF we had the money i'm sure we wouldve tried to get an overseas coach.
