ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

If my memory is right, there was once a banner at ot calling for his sacking? Was it the year that they eventually won the fa cup?

A bit of trivia.
A mate I work with who follows EPL very strongly told me that Sir Alex Ferguson came within 1 vote of being sacked after his first year at Man U.
I don't follow EPL so I don't know if this is fact or not. I'm sure there are plenty on here who do know, though.
If it is true, we'd better give GA more than one year to deliver  ::)

Its true.

He had only managed Aberdeen before Manyoo i think and it wasn't going well.  Rumour is he was one week away from being sacked...then the team had a win...started to improve...and the rest is history.

Arnold isn't really under too much pressure (apart from attacks by FFC and Serious).  We've won a handful of games in last two years since Jedi left, been humiliated in Asia, finished 1 pt away from last and are lambasted for playing the worst Football in HAL and the squad was full our deadwood and Koala's.

To be honest the only way is up!

The Media will also be kind to him (in the same way Ange's terrible start has been sugar-coated by Foxsports).

If we bring in some decent players we'll finish in the top 6 imvho.

I'm guessing thats not what he meant - rather that Don is in opposition to Primo.

If he plays his usual 433, I must confess a front 3 of

Disco McBreen Matty

Does get the pulse racing a bit. Get a decent No10 behind that lot and we will be epic to watch going forward

Like most on here never been a fan of arnie and I thought here we go again when news we had signed him. I think he has done well with his first step as manager - communicating with the fans. Telling us what his plans are, who is likely to go, positions he is recruiting which will likely come from his contacts etc is great. Unlike Lawrie who had to keep everything a secret until the last minute - He is even doing it again in his new role by keeping the new sponsor a secret. If you can't say who the sponsor is then don't say anything at all. (yeah i know he had twitter but "the boys trained well this week", "the boys are looking good" etc etc didn't exactly fill me with confidence)

Arnie only has the words at this stage but this is what supporters want to hear and gives some confidence and a bit of excitement for next year. Lets hope he keeps the communication up and delivers with his promises, but for now its two thumbs up from me.

Listerning to GA on local radio he seemed very happy with matty. macbreen and nik as the strike team and will be concerntrating on players who can feed them so from that  I take it Macbreen is not going anywhere and that resigning Nik was his choice. Also restated that there will be 8-9 players gone with out deliberating on which ones.

So if he has been in the wings for some time and pulling the strings,  the contracts to Porter and Hutcho shows that he has some form of opinion on both.

Has Nik resined ... i.e. will not be back with us ....

LOL, bad luck, Nik hasn't resigned, he has re-signed. The peculiarities of the English language. :)

Arnie should fit in fine at the Mariners.

We live by the motto: "No one rates us but we don't care", and are proud of our 'stuff you' approach. Arnie seems to have a similar attitude, so if he can weather the storm early on, get some results, we'll all be laughing our heads off when Culina = FAIL, Bleiberg = FAIL, etc.

Much as I admire Lawrie, Wombat's summation paints an accurate but bleak picture of our recent history. Arinie's timing to take over is a masterstroke - nothing really for him to lose.

The "I told you so's" will be lining up if he fails, but I'm prepared to give the guy a go. Seems an honest, straightforward sort, which again matches our Club image.
