If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The Graham Arnold Thread

I still have to laugh at the thought people would prefer players struggling in Turkey over players playing pretty regularly for the Dutch champs.

RE Arnold, im sure he has some beef for him from northern spirit days

:piralaugh:
When Foster was recruited to Northern Spirit, the coach was Graham Arnold. When he was cut, the incoming coach was Lawrie McKinna.

Thought his interview was very good on Fox tonight. Grounded, honest, warm.
Spoke very well of the coast and the club... And we're going looking for South Americans - as a mariner its just such a massive lol.

But COME ON... it is a little exciting!

:vhappy:

Well personally I'm excited. So he's doing his job well so far.
Enjoyed all the interviews, and agreed with/appreciated what he has said.
Pace and creativity, need a #10 with a different style of striker.. players that can beat a man with ball at their feet... players that the crowd want to see...

he did interview well

interesting that his very first comment was about how good the fans are up here

he certainly knows that he has lots to do to win the hearts and minds of the fans that had lawrie for five seasons

The man's got a head like a beaten favourite, but did say all the right things. Let's hope he can live up to half of it.

Holman or Troisi ... we need left sided players ... to the best of my knowledge Troisi is not struggling, however you may have more info than me.

Never said Holman was bad ... just I think Troisi is better suited for what we need...

At CM in an attacking mid ... according to many experts we have signed the next Harry, would love to see  Mustafa Amini in the top team Harry was playing at Leeds at 17 .. Dukes was playing for the Knights at 15... Holman in the side would make it difficult for Mustafa to make the run on side...

Vid on Mustafa  http://player.sbs.com.au/theworldgame#/twg_08/AussieFocus/AussieFocus/playlist/Mustafa-Amini-Profile/

I concur. He's definitely saying all the right things (IMO... I'm sure someone here will disagree though ;)).

Alex Sabella.

Legend has it that at the time Sheffield United signed Sabella in 78 they were also offered another 17 year old Argentinian but the board considered it a bit to much of a risk at the fee.  Shame as it turned out that this Maradona could play a little bit :-(

Hopefully GA can unearth a young Argentinian of that quality.

i was having a think last night and i came up with a theory,

there are 3 things we dont really have, that the top 3 a-league teams this year have... (sydney, melbourne, goldcoast)

a speedy striker: brosque, archie, smelts
a skillful delivery man: corica, hernandez, c**tlina
an enforcer :  keller, musc**t, pantelidis

thoughts?

I saw Alex Sabella play and have never forgotten it; the opposition (Wimbledon FC) couldn't get the ball off him he was such a magical dribbler, unfortunately, nor could his team mates! A real entertainer though and if Arnie gets someone half as good we'll be laughing

I question the need for an "enforcer" type in our squad - especially in the vein of "AllElbows" Muscat or "Skertzo" Pantelidis - but having met Doig, he is a big hard-looking bastard so maybe he could start throwing his weight around a bit.
