ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Fulham.

I think you'll find he was a full back originally, way before Topor joined them.

Stand to be corrected but think he captained them from LB (maybe RB) in season 1.

Regardless I think he's a good player....scum background excluded.

Incoming Central Coast coach Graham Arnold says he wants a "Lionel Messi-type player" to add a touch of creative flare to the Mariners lineup next season.

Speaking exclusively to The World Game after his first session in charge at the Mariners, Arnold revealed he has contacts scouring South America for players he hopes will bolster his side's attacking stocks.

"Everyone will say Central Coast is a team that is willing, with a great desire and great work rate, but I feel we need some quality in the attacking half of the field, to create opportunities," Arnold said.

"I'm after players who are good in a one-on-one situation with the ball, that can make something happen out of nothing.

"Im looking throughout South America and Argentina especially for that type of player. I think physically the Argentine players would be good in the Australian league.

"Ill be looking for a Messi-type player, obviously youre not going to get that level quality, but that type of player who can drift across the front line, let him loose in one-on-one situations and a number 10 who can look after the delivery of the ball."

Arnold, whose official role with Central Coast doesn't begin until his commitments with the Socceroos have ended after the World Cup, said it feels good to be back in charge of a club side, having spent the past ten years with the national team.

"It was time for me to get back into club football after the World Cup," Arnold said. "Ive had a wonderful time with the national team and a successful time, I feel its a great opportunity for me up here and good timing."

Arnold is looking forward to bringing more tactical awareness to the squad and drawing on the experience he has garnered working under Dutch Socceroos coaches Guus Hiddink and Pim Verbeek.

"The pre-season preparation will be different to what theyve had before," Arnold said. "There will be a lot of work on the tactical side of the game to get my philosophy across.
"As I said to them: 'if you dont want to keep the ball, we may as well go run the streets and play a different sport'.

"Thats something I will try to drill into the players as well as the tactical side of the game."

Am I correct in thinking that we have never signed a scummer either directly from them or who has played for them in the past?

He would add to the crowd - both at home and away. He'd be the villian of the HAL but can be a magician with the ball. I think he went back to Uruguay recently.
