ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

For a start, he has far better international credentials than Verbeek ever could. What he achieved with Switzerland was excellent, and he nearly took Finland to their first-ever major tournament, had some bad luck in that one.

Yes but according to some he would be part of the "British football mafia" and therefore would take the game backwards.

Public holiday football in the UK usually draws big crowds.

Although Easter out there isn't as big a deal as it is in Australia.Good Friday isn't even a public holiday in Scotland.....not sure about down south.

Proof if ever that racism is very widely tolerated in football.

Of course, people are being pushed to the limits of gullibility by the idea that nationality is the end-all in football.

500 -1,000 is about our usual away support oop North TBH. Dont forget, FFC fans are local to the South. Like Man U fans really.

Easter traditionally had/has local derbies - for some reason, we didnt get one.

The one team that has confounded the critics this season has been Stoke. Sure, they aren't everyone's cup of tea (certainly not mine) but their excellent home form is on the verge of keeping them up. A tremendous achievement in any case.

However, the real fallacy is that teams who play rigidly to a particular style or system are always the ones most likely to fall out first. It's exactly what happened to teams like:
- Cambridge United, under John Beck
- Millwall, under John Docherty
- Northampton Town under Ian Atkins

All three were arguably even cruder and more limited than Stoke could be (Stoke, at least, have Fuller, Lawrence and Etherington), all three massively over-achieved one year and were found out the next. Stoke may need to learn not to fall into the same trap.

Interestingly, John Beck and Sean O'Driscoll played together at two different clubs, and developed completely opposite styles as managers.

Ahhh I'm well aware of that... the season in which Fulham had an absolute lock on promotion for about 3/4 of the season and were pipped at the post.

Some of the worst rioting ever seen took place at the same venue (Baseball Ground) that season when Leeds came.
