ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I miss hurling abuse at Sydney from 2 bays away - seriously, those games had the best atmosphere.

F*ck yes - it works everywhere else, it worked here, why did we stop doing it??
because australian police and security have f**k all idea about how to manage foorball crowds??

200% true, but was it ever really _that_ threatening that masses of riot police were needed??  No way.  Immense atmosphere though.

Come on, we all know that Jesus walking in front of the Jets fans because it was the shortest route to the toilet (even there, there's a relationship between jets fans and shit) was a serious threat to not only stadium but national security, and it was verging on a boilover where thousands could've died.

Serious, derbies have lost so much atmosphere now.  Stupid security measure, utterly pointless.

At least the scummers couldn't throw coins at the players from behind the goal.

Still not sure where a scummer got a coin from - although it's not surprising that they didn't really know what to do with it either.

don't quite agree, reasons in my first post on the topic,
same answer,

I think the current situation calls for nearsightedness (I will surely regret saying that in 5 years). I don't think we should worry about inter-bay expansion issues when we currently don't get more than 200 supporters willing to be active.

I don't aspire to be 'proper' supporters. I aspire to be effective, affecting supporters. Our purpose is to help the team get over the line. Whether we stand where the Kop stands or not is not an issue that comes into it for me.

Possibly the fights, missiles etc at the 3-1 game perhaps?

I can't remember what the stories with fights and missiles were - were the fights behind the bays?  If so, surely this could be addressed by putting more security out the back at full time?

The derby atmosphere would improve dramatically if ALL of the crowd was segregated and not just the "active" support imo.

I'm f**ked if I know why we need to sell tickets through a third party like ticketek who usually treat fans like shit anyway.

Give the required share of tickets to Sydney/Newcastle to sell to their  fans only. Then we sell the rest to our own fans. That way you get the stadium split into 2 colours and you have more chance of getting other people involved in the atmosphere.

I'm not just talking about singing and chanting here.I'm talking about just general noise levels and involvement in the game.We get virtually no response from the crowd when we get a corner for example.

It frustrates the life out of me.  :headbutt:

Agree, though against sydney the cove were starting to bring too many people for the corner before they got moved. Which coincided with bling becoming shit and making it unnecessary.

It was just a matter of time before something boiled over too far with both supporters standing next to each other, I dont know why they were placed there to begin with.

Completely logical move from the stadium/ffa/security in terms of safety regardless of how harmless it seemed for some or how much it enhanced derby fixtures.

-

If we were to relocate, a move to the new bay next game (adapting, welcoming the locals in that bay) wouldn't hamper the quality of our current support. As Jorome said we should aspire to be effective, affecting supporters. Our purpose is to help the team get over the line. Whether we stand where the Kop stands or not we should be doing our best, singing for the full ninety to get the team going.

It's a known fact that the roof dramatically increases the volume level of supporters sitting under it.  Since our numbers are already low compared to most clubs the logical thing would be to move to a location (probably Bay 1) to amplify the sound.  Even if a quarter of the Bay were to move for the next game the new location would sound 10 times louder and could coordinate chants with the remaining crowd in Bay 16.

Since we will be heard more easily from the new bay the crowd participation will increase and eventually more people will join the new supporter's bay.  I believe this move is vital for the future of the supporters and should be initiated ASAP.

I dont think that a roof will help your situation until you get some organisation sorted.

We're easily ten times louder at both Sydney and QLD away..... pretty sure the roof helps quite a bit - it's simple physics.
