Scum v Mariners (HAL round 1)

We were f**kin crap and didn"t deserve a point..............but after taking the lead with 3 mins left I would have accepted that gladly, but we were so bad we couldn't even hang on for a couple of minutes.

Lawrie was playing for a draw....that was f**kin obvious.

Most of us on this forum will still go but if we want to attract new members we won't do it by playing that shit!

It was a Matthew Breeze game- of course we couldn't win it. On saying that, it's a good sign that a depleted Mariners team can take a point away from Scum park against a full strength Jets team.

Just got back and we were shite. Our passing was woeful and the final ball was just a joke. 433 so easily becomes 451 if you are pressed and we just kept giving the ball back.

We nicked a goal against the run of play and then Porter (again) gave away a penalty.

Danny = Did what he needed to, kicking was just shit
Bojic = Will be a gun for us, very good player
Porter = apart from the pen, tried hard
Apuzzo = Did well and will grow for us
Hutchinson = Not his best game
Carceras = Looks ok in patches, too negative, goes missing for huge chunks of the game
Clark = Worked so hard, passing awful
Osman = Not good
Wilkinson = Worse
Elrich = Seemed unwilling to take players on, crossing shit
Petrovski = Not a lone striker but tried so hard

Simon = Could be his year, looks confident. fingers crossed

Early season and we will get players back and improve. Scum have bought another dud marquee. He was terrible.

wasn't a full strength Newcastle team. It did look like you guys were playing more a 4-5-1.  Did Mrdja get on in the second half ? If so that's good for him to get some game time.

I think it was supposed to be 433 but we didnt play a target man (Saso is a poacher) and GVE's 2nd half tactics to press us back meant we ended up at 451 (Alt: 1-0-10).

Sackwhacker is overweight and clearly unfit, Judas just got off a plane and the new Jardel is just crap.

Dogboy looks all class though

Did notice an ambulance outside the dressing sheds on the way out. Not sure if it was Niks personal one or whether the Jest had it on standby

LOL

Well I had a ball. Sang my lungs out, nearly lost my voice and jumped around so much I had to catch my breath more than a few times. Simon's first goal sent the marinators into meltdown. The penalty was fair enough from where I was standing; such a shame in the dying moments of the game. The three points would have been awesome but to come away from Scumville with a point was not a bad result.

Just walked in the door from the game.

You'll have to excuse my comments as I could be totally wrong. That away bay is a prick of a position to watch a game up there. Hard to really judge a game sitting there.

I thought Bojic and Wilko were outstanding. D'apuzzo was ordinary and got beaten many times. It's to be expected this early and he will get better. I think he'll prove a good buy.

Sash worked hard on his own up front and Caceres had a good first half. Looked to me like Sash played up front on his own which was easy pickings for the scum. I hope we never, ever do that again.

Porter made a dumb challenge. He should never had dived in in the box like that. Stupid thing to do and I'm sure he'll learn from it.

Disappointed we didn't take more fans up for the game, but everyone was in good form and the we all follow a yellow football team song was great.

Utter devastation.

When Matty scored, my lounge room went off ... and then our hopes and dreams came crashing down.
Likewise here. I surprised myself by just how much I went off when Simon scored. For a few brief minutes six months of pain pushed to the back of my mind finally had a release.

Lawrie would have played Boz for the last 20mins if we had signed him and then he would have saved that Penalty  and won 3points?

1st game of the season..
Friday nights are also tricky for families, especially with working in the city, etc.
And after last seasons debacles at EAS..

Clearly played 4-5-1. The arabmariner is right on the money, Lawrie wanted a draw and I guess we got it but how frustrating to lose the 3 points like that and losing 3 points is how I see it.

I feel so bad for Matty Simon coz it sorta takes the gloss off his first goal. SSHHHHHHHHIIIIITTTT

Bojic is a gun!!! His fearless clearence in the second half was amazing. He looks like a team leader as well.

What about the Marquee Zura, he has the first touch of an under 7 player. What a waste of money he looks shithoue. I think the scum are a one man team, I was hoping one of our players was gonna break Song's legs because he clearly runs their team. I reckon Muscat or one of Kossie's thugs will take him out this year.

Shit i would have loved 3 points last night. What were you thinking porter, ruined a solid performance and I'm sure he feels like shit. He'll learn

But we are top of the league............ haha

Okay.

TBH I was disappointed at the numbers but not the commitment, that was probably one of our best ever.

SFC away in Rd 1 last season had a similar turnout and I think it takes time for people to "get into it". Yes, commuting to Sydney, piss poor trains etc are a reason but it would have been nice to see a few more.
