Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

He was rubbish tonight - his touch was terrible and his passing worse

Yes, but incredibly, that's better than last week.

I think Ravanna is more drunk/stoned than me!

Maybe it shows how bad Disco has been but i'd start him again next week on todays form.

Hutch/Porter/Kwas/.......will all be slagged when required!!!!!

Not sure about Keyboard Warrior bullshit..... Personally I'm playing at Kariong 12pm tomorrow and will happily show you how to beat a player when i've got the ball and how to kick em up in the air (Boogs style) when they have it.
Number 5 on my back....come n say hello.

Wording has nothing to do with it. Your fighting for leniency on a player that for 3 years has been given everything and provided nothing. Then to top it all off he lacks energy care and passion. Untill this changes he gets exactly as he deserves and members and fans as paying customers have the right to voice their concerns when they feel as though their hard earned money is being wasted.

Why dont you take your fight up with the FFA?

Nik was in great form til he got injured playing for the roos.

If Nik did not give a shit lawrie would not be playing him. Lawrie obviously sees him working hard at training or he would not be in the squad, Lawrie would leave him out.

I remember lawrie saying at the end of last season that no one was training harder than nik, he may not have been able to show it in the few matches he ended up playing, but if he can get fully match fit he is still a quality striker IMO

I reckon Nik really tried today. Hence the cramp at the end, he did too much running! He tried alot harder than I have seen him play recently, but he did have the tendency to drop off a few times, and his touch was woeful. Even watching him warm up before the game, every ball matty passed to him, Nik left 2m in front of him, whereas Matty would always have it at his feet. You have to wonder, is it performance anxiety?

I'll admit, he did look better last night, did look like he was trying, albeit for being a bit rusty, for whatever reason. The more match practice he actually gets in, the sharper he'll get (I hope). Maybe if he scores a couple, it could be his season?

...I've said that every year though.

After watching the game in Canberra last night I'd say he has still got passion. He was very vocal last night on the pitch and when they gave the penalty last night he was jumping up and down on the bench. Hardly looked like a lack of passion to me. I thought he played well last night and with a few more runs in the starting side to build up his touch and confidence he will get back to the player he was. Football is a funny game, if he scores a few you watch how many of you whingers will be straight back on his bandwagon saying " I always knew he'd get back to his best".

I thought Mrdja did ok last night, it was he who took responsibilty to hold the ball up when the midfield was going well, not Matty. He lifted Matty's game and he certainly played better last night than for a long time and better than Matty played against Brisbane Roar. I have to say I was quite surprised

I dont think some people will be happy until Nik leaves. last night he put in more effort than I remember him putting in(or look like it anyway) for a long time. He went looking for it and yes I agree some of his touches were less than quality but he wasnt on his own and yet he still gets slated, D Macs form of late has been down and noone rips him becuase he is a cult figure of some sort? He obviously wanted to perform better than last week and for me he did and thats all as a fan I ask of any player.

Personally, I think its frustration that leads to disco copping more than (say) Dmac.

<Sweeping generalisation alert>

Coasties by and large are working people and possibly dislike what they perceive as someone getting away with bludging.

I was quite pleased with Nik's efforts last night. I liked the chasing he did, I liked the way he tried to pressure the defence when they had the ball, I liked some of the passes he did for Matty & others to run onto. I also enjoyed the way he and Matty seem to be starting to get a rhythm together, which if it continues could do us a lot of good.
How many full games at the top level has Nik played over the last 4 years? I'd estimate not double figures, so it's going to take him a long time to get back to that level of skill & finesse that he had before he was first injured; it can only happen from constant, hard match play, and not just "ten-minute subs".
I really hope he can manage that because I want to see the Nik Mrdja that the papers raved about back at the beginning of the A-league, before I saw the light and started to follow the mighty Mariners. I want to see he & Matty become our own "Arch & Alsopp" up front.
Please, instead of bagging him (and I agree he deserved it from some of his performances in the not too distant past), let's try to give him the support to lift him up to where he could be, for both our, his & the team's benefit. If he can't get there any longer, then his contract won't be renewed & he'll have to go. But at least we'll be able to say that we gave him as much support as we could & pat ourselves on the back a little bit.

We also went back to 4 4 2.

If we keep this formation watch for a massive improvement in both Nick and D Mac.

Watch also the competition for the midfield, 8 players (not including Porter) for 4 spots.

Wonderful.
