ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

i think this article will best describe the change in coach we have now at CCM and the way he will approach his coaching gig with us. Also would go a long way to explain Arnoldout's dismal failures at the Asian Cup and Youth World Cup and his fractured relationship with our Euroroos.

Wether or not Arnoldout is able to pull off this style of coaching here where he could not on the international level will be very interesting.

He has the full backing of the board, that is the best start

Backing of the board has nothing to do with it. Its all about his ability to coach in the style that he thinks gets results.

I think the "full backing of the board" was a tongue-in-cheek remark. It seems all sacked managers have had the full support of the board up until the moment they get sacked.

I think Murray hit the nail on the head when he spoke of players benefiting coaches that command respect. I think Arnold's problem has been that he expects respect. There is a big difference IMO.

I think there is a big difference between trying to command respect as the teams #2 for most of a decade, under frankie and then guus, and being dropped in to cover 1 tournament, with the FFA pretty much saying, the guys can do it, so Arnie you are pretty much just there to make subs and fill in the paperwork.

Compared to national assistant manager/scout,  taking over club role with players who aim to make the teams that he was previously in charge of, and no doubt will still be consulted on in some way.

Arnie didnt just finish playing with the mariner lads, which mean to them he is someone they dont know. Someone they have to impress.

Rather than players who had played with frankie and arnie, and knew they were better players than the 2, and had little seperation between mate/coach.

Eg Moore and frankie in roos and bris.

The key is arnold has to want to be respected, more than liked IMO

Were all being a tad judgemental ... let him at least stuff up first... he may turn out to be the surprise packet of the year (God i hope so)

Always remember when we win, we can chat or post ... your coach was out tho by GA ... boy what a insult...

Agree. Every football fan thinks down of him, thought i personally think that he is being very harshly dealt considering

I also think that when we get a new manager, as with a new player, we should wait til he coaches/plays before saying sack the f**ker!

But I may just be the type who cares for the team, not the players of the coach specifically, and am willing to give a player/coach a reasonable chance to settle in and impose himself on the team beneficially...

Arnold is to Australian Football what Ian Dowie is to England - a proven disaster. Hope the useless twat loses every (yes, EVERY) game in charge of CCM so he's turfed out by Round 8 or so and we can concentrate on not wasting another season going nowhere fast.

If he does better than Lawrie in the last eighteen months he'll do for me thanks; shouldn't be too difficult. Imagine a team that doesn't hoof the ball up, a team that tries to play football, a team that isn't affected by a negative mindset or even a team that tells Vukovic to get the ball moving instead of holding on to it for ten minutes before banging it downfield to Matty or Nik in the hope of picking up some scraps. Arnie is off to a good start - he can at least avoid the agonising mistake of playing Clarky at left back.

You mean what the Mariners were in V3??  ;)

In V3, we hoofed it wide and they hoofed it into the middle for Aloisi.

The only difference was that it worked until GVE worked out that if you closed the wide guys down, you win.

And having to be dragged away by three of us from nearly belting random Jets fans....  *sigh* Those were the days.

Who was the guy who smacked that scum fan through the gaps in the back wall a few seasons ago?

Funniest thing ever, some scummer stuck his face into the gap and said something unpleasant and next thing he knew he was sat on his arse on the concourse. Even his mates were laughing at him.

Were about 3 guys used to wear flouro orange jackets to night games IIRC? Dont recall seeing them at BT last season although they were at a few away games

I remember back in V3 when I used to scream chants as loud as I could in the middle of Bay 16 and still not hear myself.

Is strange when you think back 2 years in a 5 year old league and think "the good old days".
