ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Agreed.
I personally think it's the height of foolishness to call for GA's head before he's had a chance to show what he can do at this level.
Let's face it, many voices were raised calling for Lawrie to be replaced - well, now he has been so let's get on with it until we see whether things are improving or not. By that I mean on the paddock improvement.

given that Arnoldout has failed miserably at higher and lower levels, I think the concern and fear that his coaching record will continue as it has is warranted

I think critisising him for teams he coached when he began, before his experiences with the national team is basically like saying elrich will be awesome for us, because he made it to the premier league, or cahil is a shit player because he played in shit national teams when he was young

His record with Australia was W4 D4 L5 and with the U/23s W8 D6 L7 - thats not a great record but is it a "failed miserably" ? More like a failed due to high expectations after suceeding Hiddink.

If you lost only 1/3 of the total matches you coached at international level would you consider yourself to have failed miserably?

I'm not a huge Arnie fan but I'm not going to lose any sleep worrying what will happen. The players seem to have responded well to his initial sessions.

FFC sometimes you have a foster like mind  in your appraisels on GA .
Name some players (in the last 10 yrs) who have been successful captain coaches and what other countries had the top coach also as the under 23 coach. We now have Verbeek stating that the socceroo coaching gig is the hardest in the world. And he only had the top squad.

If it continues as it has then it will be miles better than Lawries over the last 20 months.

Neither I think - just hopeful!!! I also don't think that the Socceroos will get out of their group in SA - but I am hopeful!!!

I was hopeful before Arnoldout's appointment too - then cold hard reality set in.  But hey, Doig as a No. 10 when we're down 2-0 with five minutes to go - way of the future, no?

No just heard it all before.

Tell me, what was it that caused "cold hard reality" to set in?

The second his appointment was made official??  And I wonder why we've "heard it all before"??  Perhaps his previous failures (as noted by Andrew) give legitimate cause for concern that he will only drag us further down....

As a CCM member, I hope I am completely and utterly wrong about Arnoldout. Yes, I agree 100% that we needed a change and a fresh direction.

Trouble is though you need to be careful what you wish for.

If he was foisted on any other HAL club, would people be as forgiving?

I suspect not

FFC - you have to be hopeful going into a new season - then comes the promising start, the games that turn agaiist you on a ref's call, poor form and the inevitable slide down the table.

If you go in with your attitude how can you experience the full gamut of a football fan's emotion??  ;)

My neighbour calls Lawrie McKinna the 'Lotto Man' - 6 wins out of 36 (or thereabouts).
I am sure that there are some on this forum who went to the Bluetongue to watch the Arnie coached Olyroos and could not have been disappointed. At that juncture of the campaign Arnie's team went unbeaten in a murderously difficult group on the back of a rock solid defence and a highly mobile midfield. I am aware of the Olympic Finals disaster but the only blame I put on Arnie there is the dumping of Burns/Djite and others for the likes of Spira, North and Archie. Archie repayed him by missing a sitter so I blame Archie as much as Arnie.
As I am neither blind nor stupid and have zero input into the decisons of the running of the club I reserve the right to be unfailingly optimistic
