My two cents on the game.

A better all round performance but still no where near our best. The one thing I am getting sick of hearing is that it is early in the season and things will take time to happen. A poor excuse IMO. Tell that to Roar who have not missed a beat. If they can continue on from last season then so can we as far as I am concerned.

McBreen was a revelation in the number 10 role. Dogged, determined and some deft touches involved. He also gave us that extra fire power in the middle of the park.

Wilko made a huge difference to the team and was sorely missed. It is amazing how a lot of focus can go on the playmakers without giving much thought to the influence that a defender can have on a game. Both Wilko and Patrick showed their inner mongrel and it was great to watch.

Both Bernie and Matt were great. I cant believe the difference in Matt's style of play over the last couple of seasons. Rather than be the bull at the gate he is developing some wonderful deft touches that were missing in his earlier career. I think Bernie needs to bulk up a bit though as he tends to get outmuscled and pushed of the ball in most one on one challenges.

What is the story with having to water the pitch just prior to the game? It creates a pitch where the ball tends to skid leading to some poor passing. FFS just leave it alone. Either that or water it a couple of hours prior to kickoff to give it time to settle down.

Still to see the best from Wee Mac and Olly. They both don't seem to have that sharpness yet with some of the passing going astray. It was also nice to see Wee Mac actually take on a player. He has the skills he should use it.

I thought Roystn had a top game as well.

The standard of refereeing is poor. Sometimes I feel as though the refs want the game to be about them. You can stamp your authority on a game but not to the detriment of the overall play. A couple of occasions IO thought I was watching a thugby match when he would pull up play way after something had occurred. I was at the Heart/Glory game the other week and the refereeing was woeful as well. The refs really need to focus on the amount of elbowing and pushing that takes place when challenging for a ball. If Stebre Dilevski does not win the refs gong this year a lot of questions have to be asked. He is the only one who knows how to control and referee a match.

Walking back to my car after the Mariners v Glory game I found a bracelet, it is 18 K and I was wondering if any of our supporters have reported it. I have been looking in the local paper under lost and found but nothing there. I dont know how valuable it is but it may have sentimental value. Can you put it out there for me?
