ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The funniest thing about it is more time, effort, money and commitment by the fans went into that than any tifo I've ever seen from the Mariners fans - including the joke of a Mariners effort for the 07/08 Grand Final!

there was a troll, viera_4
that most people try to ignore
so try as he might
if he keeps posting shite
he might soon be posting no more.

Vieira, while a fantastic player in his prime, was always a f**kwit. I doubt you are much of a Footballer but one out of two ain't bad.

What a load of shite how can you feel sorry for Porter when all he done was give the ball away nearly everytime he had the thing he was in the right back position when he gave the ball to Brockie he should have been dragged at halftime ,Simon gives whatever he has which is not too much he runs about like a headless chicken and when a chance presents itself to him right in front of goal he blasts it over, your comment on weemac just sums up your lack of knowledge of the game of football.
I felt sorry for Porter because I think Ryan gave him the ball way to early.Granted he should have done better but I think Newcastle were just waiting for an opportunity to pinch the ball in our back third.

If you look at the footage Newcastle have plenty of players forward with the only player available (Bojic) being covered.

Playing out from the back is all well & good until the opposition realise we do it 100% of the time.
I can`t remember Ryan kicking the ball from his hands during the game Please feel free to correct me if I`m wrong.

Stormin, I`ve never said I`m an expert. What I write is my opinion only but please feel free to let me know what Weemac did that impressed you.

As for dragging Porter for his mistake ..some coaches probably would have, but then, would you drag Simon or McBreen for missing open chances.
Would you drag Bernie for hitting his shot straight to Kennedy?
Would you have dragged Ryan for the Matt Thompson goal last year?

A game of opinions & I respect your right to disagree.

I agree re Porter Stormin. Matty's miss was disappointing an I thought Weemac was average not crap today.
But it's a better place around here if you just disagree and make your points without denigrating the other person's purported knowledge.

Style makes many great posts, and clearly knows football, the only problem I have noted is that he is ALWAYS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY WRONG whenever he disagrees with me.
But you know how that is ;)
Thanks for the compliment FP :eek:verhead:

Although I have to dispute what you say in the second instance :naughty:

I am a Brad Porter fan but I could not defend him for that pass - the correct option was available to his right, unmarked, Bojic(?). The pass from Ryan wasn't too early - Porter should have expected it and had plenty of time to face upfield.

Is this the pass to Porter that lead to Porter passing it to the Jets for the goal?

Ryan didn't even pass it to Porter did he, didn't Rostyn Griffiths pass it to him - Porter already facing upfield?

Roy I`m not defending Porter. The pass was very poor when a simpler option was available.Even though Bojic wasn`t marked Newcastle still had him covered.
The point I`m making is that we put ourselves under pressure (in this instance) by playing out from the back to quickly.
We also played out from the back far to often.
If Ryan mixed it up a bit then opposition teams would take up a more defensive pattern once he has the ball in his hands, thus giving us more space/time to play from the back when the opportunity presents itself.

I think it's a long bow to draw....blaming anyone else for Porter's cock up. I'm a shit player but I'd be absolutely gutted to come up with an error like that....totally inexcusable.
A lot of coaches drill in into the keepers to feed the fullbacks rather than go long. Would Dutchy have ever give the ball away like that? No....probably not in his entire career!

It wasn't Porter's first time that he gave away a similar ball on the weekend and it wasn't the last. He looked ok against Brisbane when they pressured him - what was wrong on the weekend?

Anyway - he is not a defender and should primarily be considered at RM, RW and CAM.

We seem to have 5 players competing for the 2 striker spots and little to no competition for all the other spots. The strikers have been rotated in these three games yet they mostly seem to run around not getting any ball.
With say Sainsbury in central defence we could then permutate a midfield from McGlinchey, Griffiths, Bozanic, Porter, Pellegrino, Hearfield, and develop some kind of a system that gels.
If it's going to take 7 weeks before we can play nice together, that will be just in time for injuries to expose our paper thin squad.
While I agree that Pellegrino doesn't so far fit in with our system, the problem seems to be a squad issue, not one of individuals. Let's not forget that we are building towards an ACL campaign here. We can't afford any buys so we need to get the current squad out on the park and develop them.
