ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Round III Jets v Mariners

I don't believe our "squad" is paper thin as such. I would say it lacks variation and X factor. I think our problem is that we only have one natural number 10, and he is injured. And we still don't have an effective strike combination.

Reagarding number 10 -
Perez and amini can both consistently take on players and play a killer ball, this draws men, and opens space for left and right mid and the strikers to work. When you think back to last season, how many times did you see, 2 or even three players colliding to get Perez of Amini off the ball. WIthout this X factor, we seem to lack confidence, space and movement. Throw in the absence of Wilko, and our confidence goes down another notch. No Hutcho... and really, the only leader we have on the field is Dutchy and potentially Olly, but I still think he needs to believe in himself more first.

I think when you play with a player who every one knows can make things happen out there, it gives everyone a bit more confidence. And for mine this is what we are lacking most. Many hyperboles have been used about Brisbane Roar - but if I was to describe them in a word or two, I would say confidence and fearlessness. Their passing and movement all largely stems from this and plain hard work on the training field I believe. That's why I've been harping on about confidence and bravery of late.

Way I see our squad depth is I would rather have not signed Musialik and also on of either Hearfield, Porter or Pellegrino. And spent that on another quality number 10 with x factor.

And the same goes for our strikers. Remove two, and buy one along the lines of a Solarzano, Barborouses, or at least a technically proficient hold up guy like Vandjik.

Bernie is like watching a breath of fresh air. Watching Perez feed Bernie and Solorzano upfront for us would have been quite something to watch I think.

Anyhow, get Amini and WIlko back on and it will be a big step in the right direction.
I also believe in GA - and think we still have a lot of quality on the field that are as good as any in the league. Just have to stop thinking and juts really play with pace, bravery and adventure, and it will all start happening again.

We can't (practically) release players mid-season. Not an option - they have contracts to pay out etc.

Anyone whose solution for our woes is releasing players should try again.
