Best we have played in a long while ...

My best in order.

1.. Wee Mac
2...Travis
3....Split Maaty & Heff

Loved the way Heff gave it to Smeltz from the start and sucked him into the push ... thats Danning & Smeltz Heff has marked out ... and we still have Huke & Corwell to come...

IMO ... we need to sent both Nil & Dylan back to the YL or bench ... promote &  blood the best YL striker we have because they could do no worse and would improve ny the finals...

Weemac and Travis are all class.

Doig is a f**kin rock.

Is this the same Danny as last season ?

CCM just beat a team 3-0 which contained black guys from exotic locations.Perhaps on Sunday Mr Foster can explain how this works!

Smeltz lol......as good as a goal that was!!

NFI about 3rd tho - until Disco came on, no one was shit

I thought Boogs had a ripper, enough to get him that point.

Holy shite what a difference a week makes. Ok we win but to do it like that? Makes my whining post from last week look foolish.

Not at all.

They deserved all the shit that was thrown at them last week just like they deserve the praise coming their way now.

In fact tonight may have been the result of the shit thrown at them over the last week.....you know....a point to prove ?

Some teams this season have just been incalculable. Brisbane and Newcastle fall into that category, good results one week and awful the next- do we put CCM there too?

Wow.

No, really..... wow.  Time and time again we continue to prove that when we play a short passing game with a high tempo we are nigh unstoppable.  Especially with the spine of Doig - Hutcho - Wee Mac/Travis - Simon.

Please please PLEEEEEEEEEASE play like this as often as possible from now on.  This was our single best performance since the 3-0 against Newcastle in the V3 semi's, and to see this more often would be nothing short of amazing.  ;D

. ok i'll take some of the credit for last night following my tactical move in fantasy transferring matty out for smeltz ... exactly what i expected. a collection of other random thoughts:

. dibo-esque chuckles at linked sbs video titled 'ccm to strong for gcu' :naughty:

. ffc, regardless of whether hill is a twat ... his comments were basically a synopsis of the thinking on this forum in the lead-up ;)

. heff did a number on smeltz :piralaugh: anybody questioning his defensive capabilities should look at smeltz putting himself on his arse by running into heff :piralaugh: ... was also good to see someone going off for dissent (i assume that is what the 2nd yellow was for), deservedly or not

. query regarding heff's yellow: was for an earlier hit on someone i can't remember but breeze waved the advantage and then booked him later

. little guys in the midfield - gotta luv 'em. yes reminiscent of tommy ... better vision, better control, first thought is to have the ball at their feet :vhappy:

. when nik came on thought he was gonna score ... if only he could lift his leg :-[

. likewise dylan should have had another tap in ... we really did deserve to finally give someone a five-nil thrashing. super run from the wee-man into the box and then to put the ball right at the strikers feet in the 6 yard box [bow_down]

. after fumbling what was possibly his first touch on the ball i was hopeful of jvs having an off night in front of hs 'home' crowd, but in the end it was three well-taken goals ... all from open play i might add. matty's shot was better than it would seem too i reckon ... he really had no right to score from there. but it looked like it was dipping just as it got to the 'keeper and it was hit close enough to him so that if he thought about doing anything other then just standing there like a big mutha-fukka (as danny would) he was going to get himself into trouble ... and he did

. overall just an awesome effort for an awesome result  :pirashoot: :eek:verhead:

Culina really is a sulky little wanker isnt he - pulls out of tackles, does the hands on hips thing.

Very unimpressed with him and his attitude TBH

The time when Gold Coast needed a leader and he went missing. The last three weeks has shown he is not captain material.

He's a little bitch. Like seemingly only a small group of others I think he is massively overrated, and a bit of a fraud. He has this real quirky, showy, useless element to his game whereby he follows the ball everywhere, demands it, then virtually always gives it straight back, or does a very super flash turn and punches it backwards or sideways, often when under little or no pressure.

Which can be a useful thing, sometimes, but he actually makes very little contribution, imho. And he is often the same with the Socceroos. And when the team need some steel and drive in the guts thupa-star Jasie often goes mia and sits on the wing, and quite obviously sulks and cracks the shits with everyone around him.

And defensively he does next to f..k all, you can often walk straight through him. He expends a massive amount of energy doing very little. I swear to god the Mariners and McKinna have noticed this because last night whilst they pressed onto the GC midfiled they gave him no special attention at all, and when he got the ball in his own back third the Mariners actually dropped off and let him have it, I thought, and almost every time he punted it long, square, or backwards and took off after it again. And the Mariners were like, ok, fine.

I appreciate the type of player he is, I just think he is poor at it. In fact I think he is a right c**t of a player, actually.

I think the players that have been doing the biz for GC have been Robson, Caravella, and Porter. And quite obviously Smeltz. Three of which were missing last night. Put them back in and take out Culina, as we have actually seen a few weeks ago, and GC don't look much different.

Super effort by the Mariners though, that was a right shellacking.

Heff is back to better form than when he won a Halroo cap IMHO. Exceptional performance at LB.

Boogs at RB was an awesome display as well

If that back 5 keeps fit and with Hutcho & Pedj (with Nikos as cover) screening, we are going to be very hard to beat.

Happy to be so wrong lol  :)

I'm looking forward(or perhaps not) to seeing what sort of spin Foster puts on this afternoon.

I think as this season goes on weemac is going to become a marked man.

From TWG report.........

The home side took a surprise lead when Travis, who had looked their most dangerous player, scored his first A-League goal in the 26th minute.

Why a surprise? We were all over them at the time and playing them off the park. Twats
