we simply don't have the squad . we needed a striker ,we need a rogic ,hell we probably still need musti.
were probably 4 or 5 players short . we played a miracle season for so long ,but come the business end
we've got nothing left .

This season is starting to feel eerily similar to the previous 2. Hoping past experiences and a fire up from Arnie may be enough to lift the team.

Having recorded the match and now watched the replay, my view;
1) Team looked tired, not surprising considering three tough games last week in tough conditions. No matter how fit the team is, this will tell.
2) Pedj our best attacker was obviously not 100% fit. When he does not fire we are half the team.
3) Sterj may have experience but he brings nothing to the game and just makes up the numbers.
4)Bernie is playing his best football for us BUT DOES NOT ANTICIPATE, this is why he is constantly found on his heels. His positioning is still not great. There was one clear example tonight when there was a cross on he ran to the near post and then tried to get inside his defender instead of running inside his defender and then running to the near post.Danny does this, Kwassy does this superbly as does the mad Albanian. Take the Belgian Euros next year and spend wisely.
5) Have they given McBreen his contract, if not tell him he needs 5 more goals this season first. We need the 2012/13 Daniel.
6) Very impressed with Glinch, glad we have his signature.
7) Shame Kwassy is injured, it would be nice to have his goal poaching ability in the final third at this time.
8) ACL really appears a poisoned chalice.
9) Hopefully we can win the Championship, then our claims of the superiority of the premiership will carry more weight.
10) Still plenty of football to go this season.

I agree with Wombat.

But then I would.

Because I suspect I'm one of theaformentioned yes men around here :tinfoilhat:

I rate Olly. You have highlighted the areas where surely any would agree that he most needs to improve. But he gets a LOT of important work done, keeps our midfield buzzing and is capable of helping us retain vital possession when we are being pressed hard with his excellent close control and feet. If he could score regularly, he would be among the better players in the HAl, much as Murdocca would be.

fp...you are balanced and positive. The only thing we will never agree on is Hutcho.

Well wasnt that a shit night.

We were beyond awful. Apart from Trent, the rest should hang their heads in shame.

Arnies stubborn refusal to change from 4231 when we don't have a natural 10 has been the hallmark of how his jobs usually end.

I have a feeling it's all turning to shit

So glad I went and saw that one. Worst game of the year. We were awful.

Well done to the security guards who watched the Sydney "fans" make their way in to the away bay and did nothing. I could clearly see it was going to cause trouble but they couldn't. I have photos of them if anyone needs them.

To the Mariners kid that threw a coin at them, missed and hit my 7 yo well done. You hurt him good and proper you c..t.

perhaps after not winning by playing quality football for a few games the plan was to try playing crap football and seeing how that goes.

so great. a flat game we didn't deserve to win. considering how few of those there have been this season it should still have been premiership sown up...someone just forgot to tell WSW that. seems inconsistent results have hurt the league's 'most consistent team'. maybe now focus can shift to acl, though top 2 is a must if any hope in the finals - we'll need that week off

Caceres sooner than later?

"The Mariners' poor performance and inability to create sufficient chances compounded their misery as they slumped to a well-drilled Sydney FC side. With a distinct lack of direction when going forward, Arnold criticised the performance of the club's senior players and hinted that they have been put on notice after their slump in form.

''If anything, we're disappointed in the lack of leadership from the senior players in those type of games and those type of situations,'' Arnold said. ''The positives for me was the young boys. Young boys are doing fantastic and maybe it's time to throw a few more young boys in.''

He wasnt a kid, was outed on Twitter. Same group who only appear at away games in Sydney and sing racist (and wrong) songs.....

They actively support a Scottish side and used to be Sydney fans until booted out of the Cove.

Just embarrassing tools who made fools of themselves in the KB pre game.

The same ones singing the Shinji Ono songs at WSW in round 1

Seriously, were we that bad? If out finishing hadn't (again) let us down could easily have been 4-2.
That's not to take away from Sydney's commitment and 2 well-taken goals.
We has the better of possession and territory and had many more passes and crosses.

Yeah, I'm disappointed that we didn't lift as required and that the prospect of the first back-to-back premiership in the league's history has probably slipped away.

I am concerned that the added ACL schedule will be our downfall - much better when the season finished earlier from that perspective.

Oh, the ones who sing "billy boys"? Lawrie shouldn't sing it either, FWIW.

Yeah, we were that bad. We never looked like scoring against one of the worst teams in the league. At this rate we'll finish 4th. The lack of belief, the denial seeped up the terraces to create a really weak effort by the active support. The entire club, from Arnie to the lowliest yellow scarf has totally lost its shit.
Today I'm thinking about putting more energy into other areas of my life because this December champions bullshit is just too painful.
Mind you we did back up pretty smart after the Perth game, it's there if we can just access it. Second is still remotely possible.
COYY.

Dutchy seems to be off the boil at the moment - just ran beside for the second goal yesterday. Maybe Zac might get a start. We'll hace to see after the ACL game.

I wish I could say that it was our worst performance this season, but I actually don't think so... They just looked like they couldn't care less for most of the game, which was REALLY disappointing I think.
Ballantyne: Saying we never looked like scoring is a bit over the top, at the very least there was Sains' missed header and another Macca howler... Plus the loose change... We should've won this game fairly easily.
I'm keeping the faith though... Takes more than a team playing sh** to turn me away ;)

But I'm back to looking for Dutchie in a bench role I must say... I have been saying so for a couple of months now, but I think we've been looking better with Zac in the defence for a while.
That's not to say that dutchie isn't good, just that he's not as good as he used to be and he seems to have been involved in several of the goals in our worse games this season... Perth... Last night...

I'm a little concerned about Macca as well... He's still nice and fairly intensive in front of goal I think... And I understand that they all have their place but... He has NO defensive inclination whatsoever... I can't count the number of times now, that I have seen him just watch the ball played, past him, in a long gently pass, rather than snatching a good opportunity... Don't know what to do about it though :(

I hope they get their act together...
