I thought Josh Rose's performance tonite was very sub-standard, putting Ascroft (&
ultimately Posco
) under considerable pressure at the back.
Playing out & losing possession.
Especially when allowing balls to bounce off the deck when failing to deal with them 1st time in the air on more than one occassion.
Other than getting forward late in the game and having that shot that went wide .....he
'looked like a passenger' in a side that was screaming out for his seniority and experience to help get things back into some semblance of order.
He's looking slower & slower with each game that I see him play, both physically and mentally ....... even his decision making when making passes is looking slower.
Really can't see him making the cut next season.
Don't know if he's seeing the writing on the wall or maybe he's
already 'had the chat' with Walmsley, but I think it's time for him to hang up the boot's.
The BIG question he needs to ask himself is, 'would another club want me ???'
I don't think so, not in the A-League certainly.
He
might have another season in him playing alongside the Pellegrini's & Brent Griffiths in the less rigorous Malaysian or Thai Leagues, maybe even 2 seasons.
With that in consideration ..........
The next Q he should ask himself is 'retire
right now, going-out in a Home game - with applause & appreciation for his loyalty and commitment to the Yellow&Blue or alternatively finishing the season
continuing to lose, which would be taking up the space/position that Mickey Neil will
most likely be put in to fulfill for next season. ???
I'd say "Go Now" - giving Neil a head start at LB for next season and use the reason above to explain your early retirement, as it would show that your putting the club's future first & foremost.
That would earn you even more respect from those that already have it for him, which I do.
He's been a great clubman along the same lines as Hutcho, not always giving their best performances BUT ALWAYS trying to.
I just didn't see that from Rosey tonite, exactly like Hutcho - before he called it
time last year, which was also coincidentally at the end of another similarly poor season.
