We're already here :)
NBN Sport report last night said they expected 2,000 tickets to be sold for the game *tomorrow*. Maybe they could have got it right? And I was sort of expecting about 5k. crowd? There is a big league game on but it's on the next door ground. Oakes oval looks well prepared from my brief drive by. Showers and 20 degs is the forecast. Can't wait :overheadl:

I'm probably not going to be able to watch this today, but as usual i don't give a twat about the result of a preseason game just the quality we dish out and the potential to be good
go get 'em boys

Interesting that Vernes is listed as a trial player, I thought his loan signing was confirmed??

thoughts? i didn't watch.
sounds like we were somewhat dominated (expected as the plan was to play the boys fatigued after several double sessions this week) and that mane and vernes did alright?

Not that good. Especially first half. We were very poor on the ball & the penalty was really our only opportunity until that point in the game.
It gets trotted out every year but Hutchinson was really poor on the ball in the first half but ok defensively. Mane had some awful touches first half (not that there was that many) but seems super fit.
Reddy will be huge for us again this year.
Montgomery calmed the play down a bit when he got on & we looked slightly better for it.
I didn't really see much of Vernes cause the reception out here in the Pilbara seemed to die off half way through the second half.

We seem to persist with this obsession of playing it out from the back under all circumstances. Melbourne were able to press us easily and force simple mistakes. Struggled to leave our own half most of the game.

Yeah, I was thinking that we actually looked fairly comfortable defensively in any of the forms... Midfield is a bit worrying I think, but looked a lot better with Monty on, I have to say...
Liking the look of most of te unknowns as well... noone stood out greatly, but also noone who bombed entirely.
Thought Duke looked good, even out the side... Matured a bit and keeping strong, it was excellent to see.. Have great hopes for him, Vernes and Malik I have to say... Scrappy as anything this game, but that's to be expected with a starting 11 that almost isn't ;)

Cernak, Sim & Hutch were quite poor .. arguably the worst game Hutch has played for us .. everyone has one I suppose.

Struggled in the first half badly ..

Still a long way to go ... we can only get better...

Not that good. Especially first half. .

First half I fully expected to be schooled. It was a very experimental starting XI - especially in in defence.

Rose at RB ---Zeleny---Bosnar--- Sim

Sim will be unlikely to start at all this season barring injury and Zeleny is a trialist. Further up the field Cernak and Slater will be lucky to make match day squads.

Not the greatest game I`ve ever seen.
We struggled to put passes together that actually had us going forward & defensively we were scrappy.
It was only a trial game though & the boys had been training hard during the camp in Lismore.
We`ll be better for the run but need a few more games before we`re ready to open the season.

I can`t say that anyone stood out as we were under the pump most of the game.
In saying that M/City didn`t take the chances they created so they`d be disappointed with the result.

Hutcho had a Barry Crocker.
Sim, Slater and Cernak are not starting 11 material.
Reddy was excellent.
The midfield was toothless and our defence at set pieces was shambolic.
Not many positives really although we improved in the second half.
Kallic looks a very good prospect in his short spell.....better than Caceras.
Kim wasn't too bad.
Mane can take a penalty very well.
The Hungarian looks very very good.
We are very disorganised and disjointed ATM.
We looked better with Duke on the field

Pity about the cool weather, no beers :(
Matty Sim, arrgh, 4 or 5 throwins in the 1st. half went to the white  but to give him some due it seemed that the guys weren't moving in to give him target options. I reckon the possession ratio in the 1st. half was 30% CCM 70% the White. Hard to do much when our passes weren't sticking. And Melbourne City were pretty physical in the 1st. Mossy seemed to fix that in the 2nd. and our guys got a bit more aggressive.
But it was great to be at a game. :)
Reddy was definitely the star.
Amazing how much local support there was for MC, I guess that goes from their previous appearances there as Heart.
But it was REALLY great to be at a game. :overheadl:

Oh, forgot, ground announcer said over 4k. crowd in attendance, not a noisy lot, but good to see at a preseason game. :) It was an event for families, lots of mums and dads there, good to see. Hutch's acceptance speech at the joint trophy presentation was, well, very ordinary.

The heading on that part of the sheet was trial players - it was just a convenient place to put him apparently. When he did come on he looked very good.

big call in an ugly game .

I always call it as I see it.....and I'm not always right.....I thought Maty Ryan was gash after his poor debut.

Caceras is a decent player who has underachieved thus far.....but has great potential.

However, I see more potential and more of a solution to our midfield malaise.....from the 16yo than I do from Caceras.
