( pjennings, However, my view of the club, has risen once again with the signing of Mile and the class the club has shown with the Maty and Wilko dealings. I love that I have seen Socceroos playing for my club like Viddy, Aloisi, Bosnich and now Mile. I love that the club has given the opportunity to Jedi, Musti, Matty, Rostyn and now probably Wilko and Maty. I love that we have had only two managers and that they are both still at the club. I love that we have 9 players that could play NYL in the main squad and I love the Board's vision of self-sustainability that you alluded to in another thread.)

Totally agree.
Players come and players go and the pospect of someone new always stirs this site up. If we dont have this speculation it is how long to kick off.

Was Porter part of the 22 squad.

I think Porter was cut along time ago. He nearly got a move to a club in Thailand 6 months ago but it fell through.

Speaking of Porter, here's his parting shot at John Sutton.

BROTHER CAN YOU SPARE A SLEDGE

Central Coast Mariners defender Brad Porter retired from professional football this week aged 25 but he might have a decent career as a pundit. On learning about the Western Sydney Wanderers' plan to cover up the statue of Ray Price at Parramatta Stadium during A-League matches, Porter wrote on Twitter: ''Speaking of statues, we had a John Sutton one up front for us towards the back end of last season … '' Sutton was brought on loan from Scotland amid some fanfare, but failed to make an impact and was on the first plane home.

I wonder what Roddy Vargas is doing at the moment. Im still surprised Victory let him go and I think he would be a decent replacement for Wilko if he goes

No - Porter had not re-signed - it just hadn't been announced. The current squad is

Ryan, Pasfield, Rose, McDonald, Wilkinson, Zwaanswijk, Anderson, Sainsbury, Bojic, Oates, Caceres, Hutchinson, Bozanic, Rogic, McBreen, McGlinchey, Pelligrino, Hearfield, Ibini-Isei
Sterjovski, Kwasnik and Duke

Without wishing to go into negative territory ... and looking for the silver lining ..

If we do sell Matty & Wilko say we get between 1.5 & 2.5 mill then our past debts are paid [assuming media reports on our level of debt] meaning the need to fire sale the club [not saying that has happen BTW] is gone and we can from strength get investors in...

I`ll go out on a limb here & say Liam Reddy is available.
Reddy has never reached his full potential but my faith in JC & Arnie thinks they could do wonders for him.
(Putting on the bullet proof vest now)
Well that fired you all up!!
At least we now know who is still around...

Style, ha! :piralaugh:

PJ, thoroughly agree re full squad. Some decent transfer coin of course should really help with this if things do go through at least. And we shouldn't have to scrape. Our bargain hunting, with the likes of Baird, Musialik, Sutton etc has never paid off. I see Vargas as falling into this category. I'd much rather play youth like Anderson and Caceres unless we can bring in some true quality. Playing youth has always rewarded us to date.

This could be a good pick up... WSW are said to be very interested ...

http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/245584,sarota-linked-with-a-league-return.aspx

SOCCEROO Adam Sarota is being shopped around to A-League clubs including Western Sydney Wanderers after FC Utrecht told him to explore loan opportunities.

The 23-year-old former Brisbane Roar defensive midfielder managed only eight appearances for Utrecht last term and appears out of the first-team frame ahead of the next campaign.

...... However, it is understood, Utrecht would be willing to pay the majority of Sarota's wage, with an Australian club asked to spend the A-League's average $120,000 wage for the one-year loan.

Yeah just saw that. A lot on here seem to feel we still need a DM. Kid has pace and must be fit from the level they would have been training at. Be a good pickup.

Regarding Maty & Wilko:
'Arnold said he had no specific plans to replace either player.

"It's something I'll look at, but there aren't too many options, to be honest," he said. "I won't replace Alex from outside as I have a couple of players who can fill his role . . . Zac Anderson and Trent Sainsbury.

"Any money we get for Wilko's transfer I'll probably use to find a No 6, because we didn't really replace Rostyn Griffiths when he left us during last season. John Hutchinson did a good job but it is not his position."'

Vargas was showing signs of being past it two years ago; not surprised Arnie will back Anderson and Sainsbury. A quality no.6 to add to Sterkovski will be a big plus.
I wonder who will back up Pasfield if(when)Ryan goes?

Western Sydney Wanders and Central Coast Mariners looking likely destinations for Jason Culina

Jason Culina ... won't play for Sydney FC but likely to stay in NSW. Source: News Limited
Sydney FC coach Ian Crook says while he'd love to have Jason Culina in his squad, the Socceroos midfielder is out of his price range and likely of interest to Western Sydney Wanderers and Central Coast Mariners.

Culina's lengthy dispute with former A-League club Newcastle over compensation and insurance issues has finally been settled, and he is now on the market providing his comeback goes to plan.

2012-2013 A-League Season
Schedule: Full A-League fixtures + 19 Fixtures: Heart-Victory starts new season + 46 Draw: All A-League finals to be 'knockout' + 59
The 31-year-old has been working with Sydney FC physio Stan Ivancic on the knee injury that sidelined him for 18 months.

That same injury resulted in the controversial sacking of his father and then-Jets coach, Branko, on the eve of the 2011/2012 season.

Crook, who has been on a big recruitment drive since taking the reins in May, says while there may be room for another player at the Sydney FC, signing Culina would stretch the club's budget.

But Crook was certain Culina would be snatched up with the Sky Blues' new cross-town rivals the Western Sydney Wanderers and the Central Coast Mariners said to be circling

Adam Sarota or Jason Cullina .... both look to be looking for a club ... Adam is young fit Jason is old and an injury risk... however there is no doubt Jason if he can get back to his best and playing with a young side would be a great add...

Glad I am not the manager ... if I had to choose I think I would go for Adam ... hoping Dutchie stays fit ... however if something happen to Dutchie I would want to swap ...

We should not consider Culina, he was useless for Gold Coast and was injured at the Jets,

For some reason he was great for the socceroos, he is just lazy and his latest injury would not help that problem.

I would like to see Sarota in the team.

Culina is a world class player .a genuine No6 ,if he's fit and plays 90% of his games .we'll win the championship and the toilet seat.
just queitly

This - but I would take both Culina and Sarota. Sarota is supposed to be a cheap option amd surely you could construct a deal for Culina that gets him cheaply for the first year, and if he meets the number of games/goals/assists could be uograded in the following year.

They both can play DM and AM and would provide guidance and/or competion to Caceres and Rogic.
