I wouldn't sign either but Meggsy looked a bit better than he did for Melbourne.

I heard that fat boy henandes has been released by victory and he is someone that you would have to consider.

If we go for Carlos I hope Clarky is up for the challenge!!

It's a shame 'cause Aussie teams don't play anywhere near as many games as many other leagues. We'll get there!

. but we travel further and have smaller squads to call on

. our competition is also very ... ummm ... competitive - interesting that after 7 seasons each of the (remaining) foundations clubs have played in a GF and most have won a premiership

i think he'd be a excellent asset .he's the best dead ball specialist in the country.
i'd love to have him

12th, completely agree with your last post.

Re Hernandez, we all know his quality, but I'm just not sure he's what we need, I think it's the pace in the midfield which allows Roar to press so much and win the ball back so quickly that is the major key to their success. Combined with a great provider in Broich, and a clinical striker in Berisha.

But Carlos is excellent at holding the ball up. Anyhow, think we have buckleys of signing him.

would be good to pick up Beauchamp bargain basement!

No thanks to Beauchamp, he does not offer anything to us that we don't already have. He strikes me as an angry ant and we already have that in Pedj. I suspect he will head to West Sydney.

On Hernandez, absolute quality player but I don't think he would fit into our club and playing style. Imagine Clarkey trying to whip him into shape, now that would be fun to watch!

Beauchamp is not the same player that was with us in Hal 1.... time has caught up with him... The Beauchamp we had in Hal 1, I would take any time... the Beauchamp of Hal 8 IMO a squad player now ...

I think we have enough cover at CB providing Patrick stays. Hernandez is a great player but I think we need to spend on a clinical striker. That should be our priority and once that is sorted we can strenghten elsewhere. Hernandez would take up too much of the cap I think

Just noticed we had signed Zac Anderson from GC. That certainly gives us plenty of cover at the back, didn't see that much of him but from memory he looked pretty solid and comfortable on the ball.

I am going to go against the trend and say we should not be looking for another striker.

Reasons?

We already have 4 signed; Bernie, Kwassie, Mc Breen and Duke.

We need to provide for the strikers we already have. We are missing a quality number 10 or AF to create chances in the middle of the park. Rogic is good at holding the ball, sliding across the box and shooting but not in playing an attacker into a scoring position. He has a lot to learn if he is to be an AF. I suspect he will finish up as a striker.

I think at least one creative AF is essential plus a DF who can get forward and score. I see these positions as essential before any others. Caceras can be a second DF or maybe first depending on how he develops. I would play Hutch as a winger.

I would then make sure we have quality cover for Pedj and Rosie. Before spending our hard earned on another striker.

The only exception I would make is if Matty Simon were to return. On the park he is always worth two players.

I don't rate Kwassie & McBreen as other than squad players.... Rogic I think could be a great striker...

I agree we need a DM .... we need a true number 10 as we had in Musty & Perz ... and we need someone who can score ..

In reply to Wombats post I said ..Rojic in AM flattered to deceive. He wasnt quite as good as Amini but was favoured due to the fact that he will be here and Amini was leaving. Gotta agree, but also add Musty created goals [who for] whereas Rojic scored them and was stronger on the ball I still think Musty if he can hold it all together he will make the Socceroos and become one of Australia's best players

In the diamond shape that GA prefers I could not agree more you need a creative number 10 to set up the strikers ... but you gotta have someone of speed and constant high quality finishing which IMO neither Kwassie, Mc Breen have and Duke is untested at this level... So the spine needs to be rebuilt Striker.. AM, DM...

We only two spots left - assuming Tommy and Patrick stay(though we can put 3 of the youngsters notionally out of the squad and cap) and three major positions to fill in DM, AM and Striker. In spite of the fact we have strikers we need one to challenge for the golden boot - not score a 1/3 of the golden boot winner.

So the way I look at it we either need a midfileder that can play both positions well plus a striker or a DM and a player that can play both AM and striker.

One solution is Culina to cover both midfielder roles. I have two reservations about him. Firstly, he has not kicked a ball in anger since January 2011 (although this will lower his asking price). Second, and more importantly, the guy constantly whines and complains. In spite of this, if he can prove his recovery from injury he could be very valuable.

I would be surprised if he does not end up at Western Sydney; I don't like him but respect his ability - always a Socceroo when fit - so,yes, I can see your point but don't expect it to happen.

With the greatest of respect we desperately need a quality striker!!

Only Bernie is top drawer and he is an inexperienced kid.

Having 3 moderate strikers on our books and one good prospect is not good enough if we want to push Brisbane, Perth and victory next season.

What Wombat and Pat said on strikers, what Roy said on Culina. Though I think he will have lot to prove he will ever play at Socceroo level again.

Howdy folks, agree with Wombat we have to have a quality striker. Arnie said after the Nagoya match his number one priority his getting a number nine and blind Freddie can see it's what we need. Bernie's not top draw yet, but has huge potential. I think Arnie should have started him more, he needs the game time to develop and should start more games.

At 19, he's very promising especially in Australia where we have produced very few really top quality strikers. Unfortunately, due to our relatively poor youth development system, our players develop later than those in first world football nations and we're always playing catch up when young players finally make an impact at senior club level. Our players are 3-4 years behind where they should be at when comparing to first world football nations. I have no doubt that he will be a Socceroo.

It's a moot point but my opinion is we would have won the Championship if we kept Matty Simon. His improvement under Arnie was incredible and he was well on the way to 15 goals or so given his strike rate when he left.

A quality number nine is a must. There's not a club inthe world who's not looking for one.

The only reason Brisbane won the Championship was due to Berisha.
