Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I'm sorry. But I think the blame for any vitriol or arguing on here here lays firmly on the shoulders of none other than... CC(bloody)M.

This is a CCM football forum, and it's been months, nay bloody years since they gave us anything beyond the odd shit game to complain about when it comes to CCM's football. So we tried resorting to peripheral club issues, but now with their do good bloody fan forums coming, even that's being undermined... so is it any wonder we have fallen to noob bashing and spelling and grammar lynch mobs? (Has an "a" SydM :innocent:)

If we're honest, we all know whose to blame?

There's just no denying the part he's played in it all.

And some other people simply have to put their hands up.

Because there's nothing they can hide behind.

One man, clearly to blame more than everyone else put together!

But don't be bloody fooled.

He knew exactly what he was doing right from the beginning...

Utter, utter, bastards the lot of them.

I think this forum is full of a lot of good people with passion and insight... Except for Dibo. He's a self confessed psychopath with a compulsive obsession for correct spelling and grammar. This is much better than an obsession for skinning forum members and wearing them as a cloak to work. We should go with this. Let him police. And he will. And we can just all carry happily on your way.

Now hugs and kisses and lets move on from this :poo:

so lets get back on track here people:

current squad, layed out in the current shape...

--------------------- Pasfield / Bradasevic (Y) ---------------------

-- Morton ------ T-Stain ------ Anderson/ Griffiths ------ Rose/ Neill --

-------------------- Monty -------- Hutch/ Bozanic --------------------

WeeMac/ Sterjovski ---- Caceres/ McBreen ---- Fitzgerald/ Kwasnic

------------------------------ Duke / Simon ---------------------------

when you look at it laid out like this there is still a lot of talent in this team. Right side defence is where the recruitment needs to be focused and wilko or Lucas would be absolute gun signings for this team
Spot on. It wouldn't surprise me to see Arnie pull another good o/seas signing out of his hat like the signing of Monty.

tea stain...was that on purpose? *grin*

the backs are basically a given, so good be they. if the coaching staff believe in Morton to replace Pedj then I believe them

i definitely see Simon being used out wide. Arnie was using him that way in the lead up to him leaving and in my mind that was when he was at his most effective. he was convincingly scoring and assisting at that time, he and Bernie were combining beautifully to knock in 4 goals a game between them 'til he left. unfortunately for Bernie that was when his effectiveness also reduced - until his Brugge sojourn that is.

for me Weemac (tried writing his name in gold but too hard to read) is also most effective from wide. Thus I'd love to see us recruit a high-quality AM, ustilising Macca/Duke as a sole no.9 up front. Macca has worked a treat as a no.10 when required but, like Weemac, is more effective elsewhere.

Caceres, from what I read here from time to time, is supposed to be a natural DM (thoughts?). So I am thinking either groom Caceres for AM or work him as DM, or both. Hutch and Monty won't play on forever or even every game and Bozanic is still currently an uncertainty, but regardless any of those 4 in combination would be excellent.

so in my mind key recruitments in the off-season is for an Amini/Rogic type no. 10
and
general 2nd players for every position for backup/competition for spots.

We are pleasingly spoiled for 2nds to start with, Fitzy etc., so the spots remaining can be used very well and I fully agree we have the potential to prove even stronger again next year.

Hmmm apart from Bragg, and possibly the NYL keeper, you wouldn't say that anyone is looking like an A league squad die for next season.

Couple of outstanding prospects for NYL, Bozanic and MacFarlane (15yo boy wonder can be anything)

About it really

I think if Tesco plays second defender to Morton we`ll be ok down the right.
It may take Moreton half a dozen games or so to get it right but we have to look at the big picture.

Matty Simon will also find it a lot different this time around.
Our style has changed & our movement of the ball is quicker & more direct than when he left.
Also, I think you`ll find that Matty`s game will have changed a lot too.I`m hoping that we see a more defined player.
A player that has the same guts & determination, but with a better first touch, more accurate passes & more self control.

Overall , on paper we still look pretty good, but if Bozanic takes over the DM role with Monty & with Dutchy retiring we`re going to need a captain.
At this stage the options seem to be Rose,Monty,McBreen & Weemac.
Knowing Arnie`s love for Weemac I think he`ll get the nod with Monty as the vice caption.

IMO a captain must have certain attributes. Experience, strong personality, leadeship, are some of the qualities to lead and gain respect from your peers.I can't see this in Weemac (yet). I believe Monty has what it takes to be captain. He's mature and experienced. Played at the highest level for yrs and he doesn't back off when it comes to the crunch. His personality and presence are more intimidating than Weemac's.
