ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

So they're both no longer in the a-league team for next season
As we thought. I do think it rather nice that they have both elected to stay on the Coast; either one of them could have sulked and gone somewhere else. Although most of us consider Pelle not to be up to A League standard, and MacDonald an exciting prospect, it must be gutting for them to not be with the Mariners. I hope they have a real impact on the Academy - Pluim could be very entertaining over the next few months!

are, so is this now an exclusive site for english masters only ?
me personally, im for inclusive posting .

This.

I enjoy properly written words as much as the next idiot, but this is not an exclusive club. Who cares if you have written 1000 posts or 5. You love yellow, I love yellow, we all sing for yellow. People can have different opinions, and TBF in about 10 years english will be massively different and I doubt I will understand it.

The only thing worse than a newbie going overthetop, is an old hand doing the same. Oldhands should know better.
Different opinions are welcome on this forum last i heard, and respect goes both ways.
Grammar is not a forum rule as far as I know. Personal attacks are not welcome as far as I know.
This forum needs to return to being all inclusive, as I assume it was always intended, and the key to that is the people on it.

Mariners til I die, with newbies and old hands alike.

. fair enough ... but i don't think people were generally trying to exclude anyone. a fair bit of the recent spelling/grammar banter was amongst the old-hands niggling one another - with one main exception

. i, for one, have found sydmariner's posts extremely difficult to read because of spelling, grammar or the use of numbers in the middle of, or in place of, words. some posts i read many times and still couldn't understand what was being said. unfortunately sometimes he was choosing to respond with personal attacks and expletives. so perhaps inadvertently he was being divisive and exclusive. people sometimes chose to challenge this with subtlety and humour and when this didn't work became more direct

. to his credit, the last few posts have actually been readable - sure they may not be perfect ... but it seems some effort has gone into forming sentences. this may sound condescending but it seems to be us oldies that struggle with these types of posting. i think he has realised there is no point posting if people can't understand what you are trying to say ... well done sydmariner

Nailed it beautifully bikinigirl.

Nothing wrong with sydmariner's opinions, just the over-the-top writing style, which often hides his meaning. We also don't want a forum like the Jet's have do we? Let's at least try to maintain a high standard. So, if people get a gentle dig about grammar, no need to get stroppy. Priorpeter caught me out for bad spelling - good for him!

hmmm.... fair points Jesus... I've been trying to get more people to join in here and the last couple of new signups have pretty much been torn to shreds for various reasons...

I can understand not being able to read sydmariner's posts but seriously... all the posts I've seen are just fixing up spelling, and then what? Does the actual content of the posts matter after that? Seems not, because we just bang on about the spelling.

Maybe we'd rather stay a little community where we already know everyone?

Jesus spoke and Jesus is right...this forum should be inclusive or run the risk of alienating new members, BG does raise a good point also, if posts come across as cryptic gibberish and are simply too hard to decipher then the chances of the post being taken out of context is high. Written word is easily lost in translation. So, if you have something to say on a public forum, then why not take the time to run a quick spell/grammar check so that your message is understood. (my wife is going to laugh when she sees this, my spelling is atrocious, without spell check technology I would sound like a year 5 student......at best)

that's the same reaction I've had when I've tried to get friuends to join.......while they often read the forums, when I suggested they add their own comments they felt that it was a "closed shop" and if you weren't "known" then your comments would be attacked....and they pointed to "replies" where this appears to be the case. Perhaps they are thin-skinned or just not as confident as the majority on this forum...but they did not feel they would be included so have never joined/signed-up.

Jesus ... post of the month ...

Bakc on tpico [sorry just messing with ya] we have 18 players signed 19 if the Wilko rumours are correct and he recovers ... tho's on the 4 or 5 players we need...

Kev & FFC anyone from the youth take your eye ...

My count of our players signed

Goals... Pasfield

Backs.... Anderson, Morton, M Neil, Trent, Griffiths, Rose ....

Mids.. Nick Mont, weeMac, Caceres, Olly, Hutch, Fitzy

Forwards ... Duke, Kassie, Mile, Macca, Matty Simon...

With strong talk of Wilko coming back if he can recover from injury...

So 18 signed maybe 19 if the Wilko rumour is correct and he recovers...

Arnold staying at this stage ....

With $ 800, 000 or thereabouts banked from the sale of Matty Ryan & Bernie..

Wonders aloud what are plans are for additional players ... given it should be a good year money wise, six derby matches seven if you count NTE... the new media deal and the $ 800, 000 just referred to... with four maybe five [Wilko issue] places to fill... BTW are squads 23 players or have they increased ....
Back on topic....:) Actually all the fears about last seasons side been dismantled are a bit premature. We could well be even stronger next year as long as there are not any more major losses. All players signed have the potential to be much better players next season with perhaps the exceptions of Hutch,Macca and Rosey. Even with the players already signed there is alot of competition apart from the defence. With a few possies up for grabs if we fill those well then we will up there again. For me....we need a replacement for Pedj(not that i don't think Morton can fill that place, i hope he does), another CB (as back up/competition for Trent/Zac), an attacking midfielder who can dictate things a bit and another keeper. A couple of major signings and bring up 2 or 3 from the youth team( or talented kids from elsewhere) would do me.

All well and good, but the point of the site is communicating. If it's unclear or simply difficult to work out what someone is saying, is it so terrible to let them know?

Everything is in the telling ..... you could say ...Old chap would you mind being a tad clearer in what you type.... you could say .... f**kwit learn to spell and for f**k say can't you write it so people can have some remote understanding of what meaningless thoughts you have today...

Spelling HHHHHmmmm not a strong suit if you have little time to post and check.. but those that know about this say if you get it close and the context follows most can read ...

To help both camps a list of the 15 [who knows who claimed this] but the 15 spelling things that drive some poster's mad... http://www.copyblogger.com/grammar-goofs/

Some of the things they mentioned.... Your & You're...it's & its ... There / Their & They"re... Affect & Effect...Loose & Lose .... read the link if feel the need to...

so lets get back on track here people:

current squad, layed out in the current shape...

--------------------- Pasfield / Bradasevic (Y) ---------------------

-- Morton ------ T-Stain ------ Anderson/ Griffiths ------ Rose/ Neill --

-------------------- Monty -------- Hutch/ Bozanic --------------------

WeeMac/ Sterjovski ---- Caceres/ McBreen ---- Fitzgerald/ Kwasnic

------------------------------ Duke / Simon ---------------------------

when you look at it laid out like this there is still a lot of talent in this team. Right side defence is where the recruitment needs to be focused and wilko or Lucas would be absolute gun signings for this team
