We were never in the race for Rogic. Simply put he was going to go to the highest bidder and we sadly were probably nowhere near that.

It also begs the other question. Our squad is looking thin on numbers. A lot of the other clubs are bringing in new players and there is no real mention of the Mariners doing the same despite Moss saying that he is looking to do so. From all accounts we have had one person trial with us and that is it.

January is 'traditionally' the time when we sell players to help pay the bills. This has not happened......yet. All this points to us having no money to bring in players. I'm predicting a train wreck approaching.

In the press conference on Saturday night after the game Moss said a couple of players trialled last week and there is more this week. He said that it is most likely that he will sign an international player as there is no Australian talent left to sign that is good enough to fill the holes we have. He is being very selective though as to not mess with the team dynamic. Hopefully we will hear more news this week.

I think it was on 2GO on Saturday morning, that he was saying that he hoped to have some news in the next couple of days - then - that's obviously up, unless he was taking business days ;)
But he was indicating that it was a bit sensitive, for us but particularly for the players/clubs that they're targetting... To me, Mossy has been good to his word this far, so I don't see any reason to doubt him - with a bit of luck, we've just managed to plug the rumour leaks that we've suffered a bit under...

Besides, can you blame him? There's no telling how the Spanish league would respond to Messi moving to Australia as part of a 1:1 cost exchange with Macca ;)

Hmm, for mine it was the whole second half of last season I think... He didn't seem as committed as he used to and then there was the whole ACL debarcle etc. etc. topped by the fact that he did indeed go to the Smurfs.
Although in a sense, I have to admit, grudgingly, that perhaps we should be a little grateful to him, as it allowed for the emergence of Storm Roux and I can honestly say, without any semblance of bitter pills or disappointment, that at this point I would much MUCH rather have him than hatman there :) So in the long run, I suppose he did us a favour, doubly so by playing so poorly with the smurfs... Could he be SO loyal to our club that he and Arnie cooked up a plan to weaken Sydney's defences while strengthening our own? Is hatman in reality a hero to the club!?
Agent Bojic!

I think the Mariners were too slow out of the blocks; I think Celtic were reluctant to do business with us - perhaps because they view us as being too critical of their under use of him; I think Rogic has terrible advisers; I think Rogic should have stayed another year in the A League. I think the Mariners at the time of selling him were only too keen to take the money and push him out the door.
We all think he is a great talent but it is telling that Celtic was the only club to come in for him - we know Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Club Brugges , Spurs and some French cub I can't remember all keep tabs on the A league.
I don't like the arrogance of Melbourne Victory, the self appointed superior attitude they have always had, and I hope Victory fail to qualify for the next round of the ACL - it won't affect Tommy's chances at the WC; and I hope Victory win nothing this year.

Net

I heard it was Mesut Ozil for a new 10 & Franck Ribéry as a wide winger with Bernie moving up front…

Now you're just being silly and making up things! őzil only just moved at the beginning of the season, it would make NO sense for him to move again so soon and Ríbery is getting a bit old for us, isn't he?

;-) ;-P~~~

So the international player training with the mariners this week is Yukihiro Yamase from Japan. Anyone got any info on this guy? Currently doesn't have a club. Can he be any good?

http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/...deal-with-yukihiro-yamase-20140121-316ud.html

Central Coast Mariners are hoping they have found a replacement for the injured Marcos Flores in the form of Yukihiro Yamase.

The Japanese attacking midfielder is without a team and is seeking a contract with the Mariners until the end of the A-League season.

He is now on trial with the Mariners, having paid his way to come from Japan specifically to earn a contract with the Gosford-based club. He has been with them for several sessions and the Mariners are expected to make a decision on a deal before the end of the week.

Yamase came through the youth ranks of one of Japan's biggest clubs, Yokohama Marinos, with his breakout year coming in 2007 as he played 39 matches and scored five goals in the competitions.

However, he soon became a fringe player and dropped to second-division side Sagan Tosu in 2009. He established himself there before joining Kataller Toyama in 2011, where he made only 11 appearances and was released last month.

But with a limited budget at the Mariners and time running out before the Asian Champions League (ACL) player registration deadline, Yamase is every chance to be the club's designated Asian player.

A left-footed attacker, the 29-year-old has a habit of scoring spectacular goals from a distance and has recently been training solo in Tokyo in the hope of finding a new club.

If a deal for Yamase is not concluded, youth league striker Josh Bingham is tipped to be included in the 25-man ACL squad. Bingham, 20, has impressed the club's senior coaching staff since making the move from Wollongong.

The Mariners head into this week's F3 Derby against Newcastle with some selection headaches for coach Phil Moss after last week's 1-0 win over Sydney FC. Captain John Hutchinson is back from suspension but it would be difficult to drop Anthony Caceres or Nick Montgomery, who impressed in defensive midfield.

9 goals in 99 matches with no assists. On the face of it it looks a little underwhelming especially when we were linked to Takahara.

clearly we need midfielders rather than strikers . the kid Josh Bingham can play first grade next year. Yukihiro Yamase getting on a plane for a trial says something to me about him that he'll fit in.

An attacking midfielder with no assists in 99 games is the worry - although he as listed as a left wing in transfermarket so maybe he is the Mikey replacement - not the Flores replacement

The French club is Lille. Bernie and Maty trialled with them before they both left.

As for the last paragraph, totally agree. Victory are the biggest club in most measurable ways (most titles, biggest fanbase, and most money) and they act like it despite it not showing on the ladder at time of reporting, or any time recently sans those few weeks earlier this year before they lost Ange.

And no worries, with Sergeant Studs in command, they won't be winning anything any time soon.
