The guys and gals currently doing their thing in Bay 16 are doing great work. They're not doing it to entertain people in Bay 15 or whatever, they're doing it to support the team. I could hear them pretty well from Bay 52 on Sunday, so I'm sure the team did on the field.

I don't think comparisons to the past are all that helpful. "It used to be better" doesn't give a roadmap to make it better again, if improvement is needed.

FWIW, I was in the Bay a lot for the first 4 seasons. During a lot of that time, while there were a lot of people, there weren't that many singers. There was a helluva lot of filler, and we used to have periodic 'calls to arms' to try to get people in there a bit earlier so we could get the singers in a tight group.

From a distance it might have been more impressive then, but I'd say they're doing just fine right now. Numbers would always help though, so if anyone thinks it needs muscling up in there they should roll their sleeves up and jump on in.

This.

I've spoken to people who used to be involved with active support on various levels and have left for different reasons. Quite a few have said they "won't come back until it's the way it (the numbers) used to be". It's that attitude that just creates a vicious cycle.

I've been there since day 1 myself so I'm just as aware as anyone that the numbers aren't what they've been in the past. But, we do what we can with what we've got and I'd say we do it fairly well.

I'll leave this here because it's a different can of worms entirely

Tommy is getting clobbered in the middle and he is still unfit - he was really struggling after after 15 minutes. Let him play on the left as he did in our ACL wing. Move Sterj into the middle to support Duke and bring WeeMac in on the right.

it's a start .because we've got nothing happening in the centre .
i think he needs to start at striker,i'll wait another 2 weeks for that.

Just a couple of things I noted at the first home game (not pertaining to the football):-

1) No Mariners flags on the McGowan Bridge.
2) No "Yellow" song before the game
3) No Bluetongue beer
4) No icecreams in the main shops

any reasons for this other than forgot?

Thank god they've done away with Yellow. You may have noticed ACDC - Thunderstruck as the walk out song. Apparently the club wants to use that to get the crowd more involved ie with the "Na na na naaaaaaaaaaaaaaa thunder" part. Think what you will, personally not a fan.

Bluetongue aren't renewing the naming rights for the stadium so CUB (Carlton) are swinging beer our way... something like that.

Bluetongue Stadium seeks new Naming Rights Partner

Bluetongue Stadium is heading for a new name, with the process of finding a new naming rights sponsor underway.
After 6 years of being known as Bluetongue Stadium, Carlton and United Breweries (CUB) who is the current owner of the Bluetongue brand has decided to expand their product range available at the venue and will be handing back the naming rights as of 31 July 2012.

General Manager of NSW / ACT, David Stingl said, “The association and the naming rights of the stadium have helped establish the Bluetongue brand as a premium brand, brewed on the Central Coast in a state of the art brewery. The naming rights of the stadium were very specific to the Bluetongue brand and opting for broader ranging was seen as the best option for CUB and Central Coast Stadium. CUB however is pleased to be continuing our relationship with the Central Coast Stadium as pourage partner; the range of products being poured at the Stadium will be expanded which provides a great opportunity for CUB to showcase our portfolio.”

Monique Marks, Managing Director of the Stadium said although the naming rights have come to a close she is excited to be continuing the pourage partnership with CUB
“CUB was our original pourage partner when the venue opened in 2000. Since then we have always maintained a strong working relationship and I am thrilled that this is going to continue. Naming rights sponsorship of the stadium played a major part in making the Bluetongue brand a household name and I am looking forward to creating the same exposure for our next naming rights partner”.
The Naming Rights Sponsorship includes significant brand exposure not only in the Central Coast and New South Wales but also nationally. “The media exposure far outweighs the sponsorship investment.” said Mrs Marks.

Central Coast Stadium is considered one of the premium regional stadiums in Australia and it offers an exciting time for a potential naming rights sponsor to come on board.

Naming Rights Prospectus are now available please contact the Stadium on

"We" have slowly gone backwards?

Yep - this doesn't really look like a 'we' statement:

Ive been to louder golf games, no noise from supporters group. was really disapointed, but its been slowly going that way for a while now...
Must be hard for the team, when the 10k growd is so quiet.
More dissapointed about the crowd noise. We are pretty soft when it comes to songs, chants and tiffos. We have slowly gone backwards from season 3.

Blaming the people who do the work rather than the people who (like me) used to but don't any more is not helpful and demoralises those who are doing the right thing and vindicates those who say:

"won't come back until it's the way it (the numbers) used to be"

And Pete's right, that is a vicious cycle.

We should support our active support, not pour a bucket of shit on them because we don't think they're trying hard enough.

Might be why Singo is pulling out of the stadium when his lease is up...

Any idea who owns the stadium... someone on the forum suggested Gosford council owe it... not sure but if the council owe it and are looking for a new lease holder maybe we could lease it at a reduced costs.

Singo doesn't own Bluetongue (the brand) anymore. Council owns the stadium and the management rights go on contract - Singo holds them at the moment, but Bluetongue not renewing their deal doesn't mean Singo's going, or vice versa.

Singo has been reported a number of times in the media saying he will not renew his lease... maybe a bluff on his behalf , simply going on media reports...

I know that, was just saying that they're two essentially unrelated events, even if they're happening at the same time.

Well that makes sense. They expand their product range to VB & Carlton but delete Bluetongue. Fantastic marketing ploy,I bet someone got promoted for that.

You could still get Bluetongue in bottles behind bay 16, not sure about other bars around the ground though?

Carlton draught or VB in the main bars.

Draught is pretty good but VB is a bit ordinary these days.

Yeah, I was over the moon(NOT) when I went to grab a cold one and realised other than BT light....my only choices for beer were VB or carlton. Think I'd rather pee in a cup and drink that instead :naughty:

Now CUB still have pouring rights... maybe Carlton Dry on tap would be a good idea!! ;)
