Adelaide did, we were lucky it was only three. Roar will make finals this year. Some defending blunders that will not happen every week. Aldred is normally very solid.
Yeah that Aldred game was an anomaly and he was directly involved in most goals. He’s normally really solid and unless his mrs told him they’re getting divorced yesterday he’ll be back to normal for us.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
it was Okon ball all over again ...all the possession , none of the goals
also, old mate commentating, Tommy Pizzeria or something , made a very good point when Grace Dill said the mariners have the GF hangover , he said something like " 8 of the blokes on the field didnt even have a drink at the GF"....most sense his ever made ever

who knows, Jacko might sell a couple of Montys picks and build his own squad....just as long as we he dont go down that Sheffield trainee route like a couple of yonks ago

If you play high attacking football with everyone up the park you must score goals, because no matter how good your CBs are you will concede to teams that can play a fast attacking break.
Good to see Mark Jackson realises that no one is scoring goals. What is he doing to fix this apart from wishing.
I seem to remember we used to have some goal scorers in the NPL squad.

I think he’s gone anyway tbh
I really did not expect him to last more than the 3 years of his strange deal with MC.
Why such a deal?
I suspect for many reasons.
1) To help and be involved with his son
2) Owning a football club was a dream and on his bucket list and this was a tryout.
3) If it was fun and not too expensive he would have a better understanding of whether he wanted to follow through.
I would not be putting money on him buying in.

No complaints with MJ's comments either.

...
Central Coast coach Mark Jackson has put his strikers on notice, saying he may need to bring in some new recruits if they don't start pulling their weight.
The Mariners' 2-0 loss to Perth Glory on Saturday night marked Central Coast's third straight defeat to start the season.

Not since Brisbane started the 2014-15 campaign with four straight losses has a team opened their title defence in such poor fashion.

The Mariners have scored just one goal across the opening three rounds.
It's in stark contrast to their 6-1 romp over Melbourne City in last season's grand final.
The departure to India of star striker Jason Cummings, who scored 20 goals last season, has left a huge hole in the Mariners' set-up.
Samuel Silvera, who scored eight goals last season, has since joined English club Middlesbrough, while forward Beni Nkololo (eight goals) went to Saudi Arabia.
Central defender Brian Kaltak is the only Mariners player to have scored a goal so far this season.

Striker Dylan Wenzel-Halls was taken off at half-time against Glory after failing to make a big impact, while substitute Alou Kuol looked good in patches but wasn't overly threatening.
"I'm trying to figure out who's going to come in and score goals, because no one's stepping up at the minute," Jackson said.
"Alou came on and we asked him to put yourself about in the second half. I thought he did that better.
"But I'm still waiting to see somebody step up and want to take that Jason Cummings mantle and go and score some goals, and we've got to see that quickly.
"And if not, we have to look to to get that into the team somehow."

Jackson was brutally honest when asked whether the answer to the team's goalscoring woes could be solved with the current players at his disposal.
"Sitting in front of you now my answer to that is no, because we are not scoring goals and we're not looking a threat from that nine position," he said.
"Like I said, I always believe in players within the squat. I have full belief in them. I'm sure they're trying.
"But we need players to step up. I challenge every forward player in the squad - they should want to be the next one to come up and take that No.9 position.
"I've got to be honest, we're not seeing it at the minute."
If the Mariners' woes continue, it could open the door for some significant signings during the next transfer window.

Central Coast will be back in action next Sunday when they host Brisbane.
The Mariners will be without Colombian winger Angel Torres after he was red carded in the 2-0 loss to Perth for slapping an opponent on the back of the head.

Also don't mind seeing Torres off for a game - gives others a chance, plus puts a rocket up him. I think he can be fantastic, and he knows it, which is why he was frustrated enough act stupidly and get a red.

Thoughts? Will his red be given more than a 1 game penalty considering it was a deliberate slap?

People blaming Jackson, what is it you think he's doing that he shouldn't be?
I'll play. For context, I also just watched MJ post game presser.
He sounds pissed with our strikers. True but is he setting them up to fail with how we play? What are our strikers strengths? Pace (DWH lack of last night an exception?) and running into space. Does MJs tactics play into these strengths. No. What do our current wide players do (Theo and Torres)? They hold onto the ball way too long and cut in. He even mentioned this was talked about with Theo in the presser after last game. Neither can get to the by-line or put in regular decent crosses or early passes for our strikers to run on to. Doka is supposed to be a set piece specialist and his delivery is equally as bad (he was absolutely horrible last night). Tulio, while a good player when fit (doesn't look it at all this season) holds the ball up as well. That is the majority of our attacking players not linking with our strikers well. Faz and Storm put in decent balls (Di P for me looks like another hold onto the ball too long but hope I'm wrong). So you'd want storm and Faz to have the ability to be higher up the pitch with people covering.
Wilson was a non factor last night. Blind Freddie could see he was the worst player on the pitch for our opening few games (cup, Asia, Ade) and MJ could have subsided and protected his young player by benching him earlier, dropping him or playing him in another role (where our biggest strengths are unfortunately for WW).
Kaltek plays brilliantly but still has his lapses. I think he was at fault for both opening goals the last 2 games (which means playing form behind). I'd still play him. Windust I'm a fan of but he was even behind Hall in MJs (and Monty's) rankings despite playing when when called upon. It looks like MJ is trying to get Nizzy to be a regular goal threat (which we all hope he can turn into)- think penalty win in Asia, non-penalty last week, goal in Asia, and a lovely but of skill to be out muscled/lose his footing last night. Is he playing too high creating even less space? Most of these decisions are purely for MJ to decide. How to play to your strikers strengths is also for him to decide. I hope he can actually try something different as he does not seem to select benches to impact games effectively. When plan A fails (no early goals) then what? Love to hear people's thoughts.

Good assessments across the board and I agree we are not playing a style that suits any strikers in the league let alone our own. He is the Manager so why isn’t he telling Theo and Torres to release the ball quicker. I was yelling at Theo when he kept standing at the edge of the box holding the ball. What was that all about and he needs to get rid of it, he is dangerous when he does. Thought he had a poor game. The positive people on the forum are talking about ifs and buts, ifs and buts don’t win games or comps. That’s talk from the doldrum days when we constantly made excuses for losses.

I’m going on the Bali tour so will be interesting to see what the team spirit is actually like. There are some training sessions and meetings with the players. MJ rightly sledging some in the press which is warranted however this may very well impact the team cohesion.

However, what he does about it is the real issue. Excuses don’t win games either.
This, we don’t need his honesty we watch the games. I want to see something to fix it. Blaming the players is only heading in one direction. Ask Rado what it’s like to Manage a team that threw a game to get him sacked. I wonder how long we are off this happening.

Whilst I’m trying to withhold my judgements for a little while longer,

The signing of Doka seems strange to me so far from what I’ve seen, Storm was outstanding last season and didn’t need replacing, we’ve used a foreign spot on a right back instead of some more attacking depth which at the moment is clearly where we are lacking.

Surely Dan Hall / Kuzevski could’ve been Storms competition / backup and we could’ve used the foreign spot on a winger or striker instead ?

His press conference sounded like he is telling him that. Maybe that’s part of the reason why Wilson keeps getting a run?

There’s a fine line between accountability and blame. Get it wrong and it’s all downhill. At the same time though fans seem to want honesty not platitudes

Yep we look good for 20 mins then you just know an error and counter attack is going bring us down. Staj out managed us last night, his changes at half time worked a treat.

I wouldn’t trust any manager who is walking away from that first half thinking he’s out managed us. If we’d failed to create any chances, different story. But we should have been up and they would have been forced to abandon their plan and chase. Staj got lucky. If we have a striker in any kind of form we win that game imo.

Our dominance of possession wasn’t just because we sat in on our own half knocking it back and sideways. Our now maligned press was working very well. We forced a lot of turn over and errors. Unfortunately their CB’s and keeper had much better games than our forwards

Worst game I’ve ever watched DWH play, (and I’ve always liked him as a player) totally intimidated by Susjnar. Tulio and Faz missed great opportunities. The only difference in that game was they had a clinical striker. And even then, if Kaltak intercepts that ball - which he’d probably do nine times out of ten - game probably finishes in a draw,
