it was Okon ball all over again ...all the possession , none of the goals
also, old mate commentating, Tommy Pizzeria or something , made a very good point when Grace Dill said the mariners have the GF hangover , he said something like " 8 of the blokes on the field didnt even have a drink at the GF"....most sense his ever made ever
who knows, Jacko might sell a couple of Montys picks and build his own squad....just as long as we he dont go down that Sheffield trainee route like a couple of yonks ago
We were far more direct than under Okon and had a lot more penetration. That possession stat is inflated because Perth couldn’t keep the ball under our press for significant parts of the game. Not because we just kept possession at all costs knocking it back.
Fact is our forwards are not gelling and are not in form. Deej was right about Torres, great turn of speed and good on the ball, but presently can’t pick out a man and makes poor decisions.
Dingo and Beni were both patient and could pick a pass as well as score. Silvera was a great technical finisher. All things our current forward line is missing.
Hate to say it, but this league is always tight, meaning small margins make or break teams. And so far doesn’t look like we can overcome the disruption, which only gets harder when you’re losing. Look at Victory last season.
And it’s not Monty’s fault. He had an opportunity that could be once in a lifetime and had to take it.
And that’s also not Jackson’s fault. Or MC or Peil’s.
It sucks. But it’s just what it is.
Problem with Jackson now is imo you can’t fairly discern yet whether he’s actually getting most things right but the short term ask is simply too much in a tight league.
