Without knowing what singos mob tip in, Gosford City Council tips in $270 000 towards field maintenance each year.
That's a very small amount for a stadium hosting in a major national league, even when considering it has less use than most. Especially in major maintenance year where a couple of hundred k is only a start. It's no surprise there is only patching being done if that's the limit of the grounds works funding.

Im not certain that figure is correct. I think it is actually double that, but can not find the article online, so could be that, or more. I thought 270k was what the rest recieved, with the stadium getting double that
You can trust me on this one, i have some pretty good sources ;) $270 000 is allocated by GCC to field maintenance of graham park

Dibo I hope you are the Gosford planning committee.
Report says they are going to spend $255m to up grade Gosford central, great until the next line
"over 30 years" so $270000 per year for BT is top money from the council.

Graham park for units? link with the fabled "marina/fast ferry" project

Build a 25k (upscaleable to 40k) rectangualr flat pack stadium at Adcock?

too hard but a lovely idea

Personally I'd like to see something incredible that would put us on the global map.
(And help lift Gosford out of its coma)

I say build a new stadium out over Brisbane Water, Dubai style. NZ were also looking at one instead of upgrading Eden park.

You have multiple piers surrounding and leading out to it with eateries, boutique shopping, entertainment etc...

Home of the Mariners... Out over the water... Australia first...

The eye catcher of the Australian 2018 World Cup!

Come on how good would it be?

:vhappy:

I like where this idea is going.... you could throw a few outboard motors on the back of the stadium then and drive it around, having home games at different locations up and down the coast. You could run it like a bus service on game day... pick people up at various coastal locations... then park somewhere and play the game.

Brilliant!!!
The possibilities are endless. I'm seeing Marvin with a cutlas forcing squadrunts to walk the plank from about three hundred feet up.
:grouphug:

This could also help mollify those who may somehow confuse this modern day wonder of the footballing world with an eyesore - as we can also build a giant boathouse right next to it so that we park it in out of sight!
;)

A-LEAGUE pitches have come under scrutiny this season and now club captains have handed a collective thumbs up to Suncorp Stadium while giving the thumbs down to Etihad Stadium.

Coaches have complained about surfaces when they fell short of expected standards with Melbourne Victory coach Ernie Merrick leading the pack of those speaking out this year.

But a survey of skippers has revealed that while Brisbane Roar may have endured something of a bumpy campaign so far, it's smooth going as far as their playing surface is concerned.

At the start of this season, the PFA introduced a new pitch ratings system in a move designed to push for quality surfaces and ensure player safety.

The system calls for the captains of visiting teams to evaluate the A-League pitches each round based on their overall quality, hardness, pace and smoothness.  Players give each field a mark out of five on all four criteria.

The first set of results for the season has now been released and Suncorp is top of the pile with an average rating of 4.5. Hindmarsh Stadium is second, ahead of Bluetongue Stadium.

At the other end of the scale, Victory may be the current champions but visiting captains clearly don't believe the grass is greener in Melbourne.

Etihad Stadium's average mark is just over two with both Skilled Park and EnergyAustralia Stadium both struggling for approval as well.

While both Gold Coast United and Newcastle Jets play at grounds also used for rugby league, the same also applies to top-performing Suncorp raising questions over the reasons for the poor conditions.

"The results show that while some clubs are meeting the standard required for top-tier professional football, others need to be improved in order to ensure player health and safety," said a PFA spokesman.

"Additionally, excellent pitches provide players with the opportunity to express their technical skills and provide a more entertaining spectacle for A-League fans.

"It will be interesting to see if and how the players' views change over the course of the season, as the hot summer months kick in and the demands of competing football codes give way in the multipurpose stadia."
I think this says more about the other pitches then our own

Yeah.

The BT pitch - except for the re turfed squares - which cover about 5% overall - is looking fantastic. Very carpet like. Just the discolouration of the re turfed areas to come good and it will look a million bucks.

Talking to some of the W-League girls and they said that Canberra was very spongey and heavy to run on.
Yep looked that to me and how I reported on it.

There goes the pitch

Can they please not f**k around with the pitch I mean seriously this has f**ked up the place before and now they want to put another one on.

The scheduled date is past the finals of this season.
Bright side is that we spend a whole pre-season reparing the damage in time for the next cycle of pitch fk-ups.

I know what you mean but its on the 17th April 2010. Season will be long finished and ample pitch recovery time.

Does doesn't it.
Combined with the FIFA break, almost feels like we've been in off season.
Get through this next weekend against Fury and it's 5 glorious games in the next six weeks!!!

Pitch is looking good - but was very surprised to see a few fairly threadbare sandy patches the other day near the southern end. But still overall looking pretty nice. Also another ten days and the squares will be getting reasonably close to matching the colour of the rest of the field.

Where is the pitch? Adz, might want to post a map so people can get to the ground.

*boom, tish*

Last week you could still see the patches where they replaced turf. I will be hugely disappointed if the ground isn't in perfect condition after seven weeks of "maintenance".
