Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

It's meant to be called a salary cap....but it's been subverted for the interests of citeh, SFC and mvc
Salary cap doesn't stop the stigma that being a shit club has around it, as everyone has said, we have to overpay mediocre players just so they come play for us, Poppa got Ikonimidis because he promised he could teach him things and get him playing for the Socceroos, he has delivered.
Agree with your point, but it doesn't work.

Just changed my vote from no to yes. Tonight was the tipping point for me, what us fans have to put up with is beyond cruel.
Funnily enough, tonight would incline me to change in the other direction.
We scored two, which we haven't done for a while. Hirage, Oar and Aspro looked good, we bossed sections of the game, probs would've won without the send off.
We're not suddenly going to be hot stuff, and there will be discouragement along the road to success.

Three penalties and two red cards in two games shows a level of disciplinary issues that the coach has to take responsibility for. Straw that broke the camels back for me.

Maybe it's not a case of recapturing the Mariners spirit. Maybe we need to raise a final glass, pour libations, and stop looking at the past. We can't get back to where we were.

Agree.
Dumbest game ever and from my exprience of mixing with bogans that follow the code while on holiday in Bali.....................world's strongest man is better to watch.
You're basing your opinion on Bali bogans? Fair enough of you watched a game and didn't like it but that's a bit silly.

That's a fallacy. It's done nothing. Look at Carlton. How many top 10 picks have they had in the last 10 yrs? How many have Hawthorn had? Who's won more flags?
The draft isn't a fallacy, AFL's problem is it expanded too fast too soon and the talent doesn't exist to support 18 competitive teams, that's why Carlton, Brisbane etc continue to flail at the bottom. GWS and Gold Coast should never have been admitted.

The idea might have merit in the A-League but there are already so many structures and pathways it's probably not necessary. Especially with two new teams coming in.

I've been stuck in a sports bar when they put a game on. I couldn't leave as we had only just ordered some food. It's a terrible game to watch.
You are correct Adz, it's not just bogans (silly comment agreed) everyone is force fed it by the media in Vic and S.A.

I tried to get into it when I first got here and I'd watched some Gaelic football in the pubs in North London......but it really it a shite game.

I have sat in a corp box at the Swans. We put the NRL on at half time and stayed watching that enjoying the free beers and party pies.

Maybe if it was played with a round ball it might be a slightly better spectacle.

The draft isn't so much about adding another pathway, but making sure all the top talent goes through it and the shit teams get first crack.

There are other factors then, like picking the right/wrong players for what the team needs, and trading picks for established players...

To reference aerial ping pong as an example, GWS have traded their picks well over their initial years and have a team capable of fighting for premierships. Gold Coast hasn't. The Demons used to get top pick or thereabouts every year and blew that advantage by trying to bring in youngsters and having them be superstars immediately. As soon as they started trading for established players and making better draft decisions - as well as better on-field coaching - they got better.

Another factor here is we don't reeeeaaally have a salary cap. There is a cap and then there are so many ways to go above it. Wonder how the timeline of allowing additional "marquee" players correlates to the CCM downfall too.

But If Mulvey does go ...who replaces him ?...I don’t think I’d give the job to Monty at this point

Some how I don’t think the Club will get rid of him, it’s a valid question but the season is so far screwed I don’t think it really matters. Part of me wants him to stay so he has this record on his CV, he deserves it because I’m pretty sure we are not going to win a game so plenty more losses to put beside his name.

Ok let’s give Mulvey a option we have 2 home games if we don’t get more than 4 points out of it he walks if we get 4 points or more he stays. Let’s see how much he wants it and how much the players want him. I think that’s pretty fair.
