Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

as long as you are getting images off the internet, they are always going to be crappy 72dpi, RGB and small... blow the face up to life-size and you are looking at a bunch of pixel crap, just as graaant pointed out.

as for the picture of the card someone posted, what is that for? it wont be as bright as that when you print it as it is currently in RGB colour mode and it will print in CMYK, making it more dull.

your best bet is probably to buy a bright red/orange paper or cardboard and cut it out.

In regards to the internet photos, that's correct and is what I was trying to point out.

The photo of the card, wasn't actually a photo of a card.. LOL
It was the photo of the coloured cardboard as advertised on the OfficeWorks website for $12.99 for a pack of 50 which I believe will be the easiest way to make them.

Red Card needs to be A4 size at least, & I thought someone had said A3, to be seen at a distance, not close up.

I don't really think they need to be any bigger than 1/4 to 1/2 max of an A4.
We're talking about bright red cards here and in mass. When the ref holds up a card 90m away on the field you can clearly see and distinguish what colour it is.
I think too big will make it look cheap and tacky.

yeh u dont need big ones... a couple of hundred small ones waving around will stand out.

the bigger they are, the more floppy they will be, so then you would need thicker paper/cardboard, resulting in a higher cost.

Should have an ANTI-FFA BAY banner hanging up the back somewhere

I've started a thread in the Marinators forum section for this kinda stuff that can be made for next season.
Though I'm really not too sure if "Anti-FFA" is the way to go.

just simply bagging out the FFA will not have the effect more subtle, thought provoking gestures would.

saying FFA is shit and the FFA is that is an easy way to approach it.
something like emptying bay 16 for 10 minutes would be heaps more effective... rather than people just saying 'oh... look, an anti-ffa banner'... it would be more like: oh, what are those marinators doing? they seem to be turning their backs on the FFA

Yeah good point.

just thinking... shit will really hit the fan if we get eliminated from the olympics due to a series of keeper blunders.

fingers will start being pointed and you will hear every scapegoat imaginable and unimaginable.

yeah, I'm all for a more subtle approach...if we are too "in their face" they simply won't pay any attention to it and therefore we will be shooting ourselves in the foot...
the more unique and humerous we are, the more air-time we get, the better the point is made!!

about the red cards - I think real-sized ones would be fine, particularly if everyone had one...that way it would look heaps good.
with the masks - I'm sure i've seen a full page photo of all the players in a game program before, am I wrong? I don't have any as I've lost them all, but if someone could back track...
we could also contact the mariners club and ask to have a photo sent to us, I'm sure they'd oblige...
the BRA one is good, but it could get a little risky...
lets brainstorm some more...i like it...

Good ideas Timp, I agree!

Do we wanna brain storm on these projects over in the Projects for V4 2008/2009 thread in the Marinators section? Just easier to keep track of there, and saves poor Danny's from staying off topic.  :innocent:

Indoor keeping is fun. :p

Yes should be very interesting this time next year. Joel aka sack whacker, A.Griffiths and Covic all off contract

I can't see either of the Griffiths boys leaving Newcastle, unless to an overseas based club. Covic, well I don't know about him really.

BTW; when does Joel leave for Japan?

Covic also worries me but hopefully the GF win will keep him - fingers crossed.

Joel left for Nippon last saturday

Covic will stay for next season, I'm sure. Just not how long.

Ah, good luck to him then, regardless of whether I think he's a wanker or not, talented player, even I can admit it. Hopefully he won't burn out.

Can we find similar cases in local and state league judiciary cases.  I am related to a few referees and club officials and the results from striking charges I have heard of and Danny's is extreme in comparison.  The more information and statistics available to his defence the better as I can't see consistency in the bans applied to players across various leagues

Shouldn't they take into consideration the bans applied to players across the state at all levels for striking and not try to use one person to set an example to Australia.  12 months usually involved more than a slapped hand running past.

Yes referees need to be protected but the actions of this judiciary panel may now put them in greater danger - if a slap will get you 12 months a full on strike will also get 12 months they might as well make it worthwhile and go play league for a year

I'm pretty sure that if there are similar cases the appeal committee would have have dug them up and presented them. I really can't see them walking in there all cocky and just saying "But Joel did it!"
Even if such things happened in the NSL, the stance which Buckley has taken will basically mean there's the attitude of "What? There was no NSL!"

I agree fully with your points, I just think that most, if not all avenues would have been exhausted by now. The next appeal would pretty much be to FIFA, saying how the FFA are a bunch of twats basically.
