It's confirmed. Danny Vukovic has been handed a 15 month ban with 6 months of that suspension to be on a probational basis, meaning if he re-offends the following year after he has served 9 months suspension the remaining 6 month suspension will be activated. His Olyroo prospects also look to be in jeopardy. He has 7 days to make an appeal. Let's show him as much support as possible in this, his darkest hour.

What a joke i hope they appeal. Currently talking about it on fox sports news.

How can slapping the ref on the hand be worse and worth more than groping the linesman.

Shame FFA Shame!!!

F**k you FFA

We love you Danny

When's Joel Griffiths getting his ban?

Clearly making an example of Vukovic because they dropped the ball on the Griffiths thing  :redcard:

Q: ``considering the extension of the sanction beyond the A-League, including to national team duty.'' - Does this rule out him going on loan overseas to remain match fit if he takes the ban on the chin? If so, this is not the end of the world.

Sasho aswell!!!!!!!!!! f**k sake!!!!!!!!! Bloody Mark Shield!!!!!!!

Meanwhile, Vukovic's team-mate Sasho Petrovski has also been cited for using an abusive gesture towards a match official during Sunday's controversial grand final and the disciplinary committee will conduct the hearing.

IMHO... If they can do that they can pull up Griffiths...There was nothing said about Sasho at the time so why do it now? The Jets must have more money then we thought, paying out the FFA and the Refs... (Maybe that's where all their money goes too... )

Danny's Olympics! This feels so much worse than yesterday being robbed of an opportunity to contest another 30 mins and who know what result, due to an INCORRECT decision (which brought back the WC 2006 pain following Fabio Grosso's dive).

Yes, officials must be protected but FFA has shown no appreciation of the the non-injury and non-fear threat of the contact or the context of the heat of the moment - heat CREATED by Shields' mistake. Or the inconsistency vs. Griffiths.

At the moment I am so angry that I'm not sure whether I want to have anything further to do with this organisation or its top-flight competition.

Maybe given time, friends I've made on here and my passion for the game and CCMFC will win out - I've just got to go away for a while. Bye.

Yea I'm really struggling to keep having faith in the A-League when they pull this sort of inconsistancy.

I know it was stupid bit i thought it would just be a couple of weeks, but 15 months that's a really poor decision. I still think scum boy's was far worse he gets a yellow and Danny gets 15 months there is no fairness in that and Danny had a reason to be upset with the ref, scum boy didn't. Australian refs have got to be some of the worst in the world.

OUTCOME OF INDEPENDENT MATCH REVIEW PANEL

Football Federation Australia (FFA) tonight announced the decision of
the independent Match Review Panel arising from the red card (send off)
offence of Danny Vukovic (Central Coast Mariners) at the Hyundai
A-League 2008 Grand Final on Sunday.

The Match Review Panel for the Hyundai A-League has suspended Vukovic
for 15 months, of which nine months will be served with the remaining
six months suspended on a probationary basis for 12 months.

In effect, this means that Vukovic will not be eligible to play in the
Hyundai A-League competition again until 24 November 2008.  If Vukovic
re-offends in the 12 month period after 24 November 2008, he will be
required to serve the remaining six months of his 15 month suspension
(in addition to any new sanction).

If he chooses to appeal the decision, Vukovic has up to two avenues of
appeal under FFA procedures.

Vukovic has seven days in which to lodge an appeal.

FFA is considering the extension of the sanction beyond the Hyundai
A-League, including to national team duty.

FFA has also cited Sasho Petrovski (Central Coast Mariners) for an
alleged infringement of the laws of the game concerning the use of an
abusive gesture against a match official.

The matter is automatically referred to the Disciplinary Committee for
hearing.

In addition, FFA is writing to the Central Coast Mariners asking them to
show cause why the Club should not also be sanctioned under the FFA
National Disciplinary Regulations for team misconduct.
