Can't believe I read that, even from the most one-eyed CCM fan.

Sad for him to miss the Olympics most of all, but much of the reason for punishment is dettering others, and this will ensure that referees are properly taken care of now. No one will want to get near a referee in such a fashion.

I was meaning to say that in my opinion it was a bad decision, a silly offence but not red-card/ban worthy, at least NOT 15 months!
Possibly a biased opinion, after all, touching an official is a cardinal sin, but in the context of it all, I'm sure I'd have done worse than high-five him.

Well i lok at it this way the FFA are saying you can go hit a linesmen in the nuts and you will only get a yellow but if you slap and ref on the hand you get a red card and 15 months suspension

He will miss a fair chunk of the season, because with the new teams coming in the competition will start in July (probably) which means he will miss roughly 4 months of the season- about 15 games or more

Don't forget that he'd be missing time with us because (hypothetically) he'd be at the Olympics anyway. That'd eat up a couple of weeks or even a month, right? So he might miss only a couple of months game time with us...
