WOW this fan club is so disloyal to the players, I hope Heffs mum doesnt read this!  Last year you all loved Aloi$i now you have a hate blog about him. Why so much hate in this forum?
Who could do a better job defending than Heff! I take my hat off to him, he comes back after a bad injury, plays a match while he is sick with the flu and he cant see out of one eye (considering the circumstances I thought he played well).  You all loved him when he was scoring goals and making the Mariners money when he went to Germany! Yeah maybe I am biased because he is my mate.

Oh beauty we have someone who claims to be very close to the players!

Mate, could you do us all a big favour and print out this thread, and ALL the comments that have been made here, and show it to Heff, so he can pass it around at training.

They had Victory by the balls last night, Victory were starting to get frustrated at not having any goals and looking down the barrel of a scoreless draw at best or a loss, and the PLAYERS BLEW IT!

1) Strikers are supposed to realise that to score a goal, they have to slot the ball BETWEEN the posts into the net. Not over the crossbar, not into the stand behind - IN THE f**kING NET. That is what Simon, Maccallister and Mrdja are paid for, so do it ffs.

2) Your mate Heff, got sucked in big time by one of the more slimier pieces of shit in the A-League. But I'm not dirty that Kev brought on the hit by Heff's elbow, I'm more dirty of the fact that Heff got involved in it - off the ball - and like the pretty boy kid in the school yard, got biffed by the school bully and got caught out retaliating.

3) Hernandez's goal should not have happened, and Danny bears the brunt of that fault. He is the one who sets the wall, and the ball skidded through the wall and straight past Danny. If Danny had no sight of the ball's impact, then I'd suggest he set the wall too front on to the place where the free kick was being taken, instead of setting the wall up to close down the angles.

4) Archie's tearaway run to score the final goal was plain awful defending. TBF, they had held him up to about 60 minutes or so of the game, but he found the gap, he found a squirt of speed and he was away.

I agree with comments made by Kevrenor above about the makeup of folks on this forum. I guess I'm from the 'know a little about the game, paying customer who demands a better quality of product, and cannot see why the club & it's supporters should have to endure players with no ticker or unable to meet the improving standards of the League' category.

Keep in mind, too, Uroda, that there are a number of players who have not even made the seniors' bench this season despite supposedly being fit to play, and seem content sitting in the Youth squad playing the 'big brother' routine to the kiddies.

Your mate , Heff, while I have a heap of respect for his tenacity and yearning for hard work on the field, is being shown up with either some rusty playing style or a lack of technique.

What may have worked in v1 with a fast run up the sideline, is now being found out by a calmer and more methodical approach by the opposition's defence to these runs, and one good counter tackle by the opposition's midfield renders him without the ball, up the wrong end of the field, with a counter attack marauding through our empty left side defence. Wilko saved your mate's arse a few times last night.

If he makes a decision to make a run, he had better learn to keep the ball in his possession and make damn sure the pass or cross he delivers is not going to go straight to the opposition's centre midfielder who can then mount a very quick counter attack.

It might be OK for you Uroda, to wander into the club and, using the "I'm a mate of Heff" line to get you access to good seats for free or the good info from the inside.

But the vast majority of us here have to pay to sit there and see a team give up the ghost, have to cop a bagging at work and from friends after such a shithouse 30 minutes from them at the close of the game, and put up with having to explain time and time again, that Dean got sucked in by a professional thug who niggled him to the point that Dean lost his professional cool and just engaged in thumping the c**t while off the ball.

Once in a while, many of us here would love to be able to go back to work after a weekend's game and regale at the 5-0 thumping we gave some team, instead of having to diplomatically explain how we held a team for 60/90 minutes and then pissed it all away to lose 0-3.

As I have said, I have respect for the tenacity for the way Heff plays the game. But maybe, just maybe, he isn't at his best at the moment and needs a few more weeks in the Youth League to sharpen up his attacking moves and strengthen his defense. Taking to the field with a flu or staying on when you cannot see properly is not an excuse if it costs you the match with a less than average performance, and being all macho and saying you are fit to play when you are NOT is just weakening the team as a whole. You take the field, you are deemed fit and if you play shithouse, you can expect to cop some stick. The post game excuse of previously undisclosed injury or illness is a cop out for a bad performance, and one that is deceiving of fans.

Please, by all means, Uroda, show this Thread to Heff. I bet he'll be quite incensed by the way we lay the boot into one and all, but what does he expect when we sometimes feel we are being taken for mugs!

Well Just got home off the Plane from Melbourne. Nice little group of supporters last night and we did our best and also had a good battle with the north terrace.

Eggy, didnt you want to get off the plane this morning? still sleeping after we landed at newcastle.

The game well it wasnt the best game from either side, game of defending really. We didnt take our chances in the 2nd half where as Melbourne took thiers. We did drop off after they scored, which is why they scored 2 more.

Not all hope is lost this year, we can beat the teams in the top 4, the players need a rocket shoved up them and realise what is on stake in the games.

Bit of a quirk but you guys were battling with the South End not the North End. We have kept the names from the Olympic Park days despite the fact we are now geographically switched (you didn't notice that North End over here chant?) Hope you enjoyed it, looked like they had 1500 at least in there.

Respect for the Marinators has been growing this season. You guys were seen as the basket case supporter group of the comp, nice to see some real passion.

And if you watch the 3rd goal, his eyes never leave the ball..... and his feet never leave the grass. How is that ok from ANY keeper?

I've seen u keep Mr Bear... and you think your reflexes woulda been that quick... hahaha.. LMAO.... ;-) ;D

i think you'll find that hutcho actually jumped out and away from the wall and the ball went through where he should have been standing

Thats exactly what I thought from watching the replays last night... jumped, shut his eyes and turned sideways.... letting it through untouched...

OK, I'll defer to your observation. I'm a little foggy after last night's attempt to erase the memory of that last 30 minutes with copious amounts of alcohol. So the ball's speed had no slowing up from hitting anyone? To me, it looked like the ball went through the legs of someone in the wall, and then straight past Danny. You'd have to admit, though, it was a cunning strike by Hernandez.

Archie the petrol-sniffer scores his obligitory goal against us and smiles arrogantly across his blackfella face as we have to deal with crushed hopes yet again.

Wow.  Just wow.  Why don't you go and give yourself an uppercut, you f**king racist loser.  Get the hell off the forum, we don't need your shit dragging the rest of us down.  Go put on a white hood if you feel like spreading the hate - we don't want your juvenile redneck shit on here.  F****** disgraceful.

As for the game...well, the words 'f****** disgraceful' come to mind again, as does 'incompetent'.

Our strikers were as bad as our defence - we should've scored about 6 goals with all the great chances we had, only to have them repeatedly send shots soaring to the top tier.

Our back line wasn't quite AS useless, though we've always had a problem with players who are too scared to cop a hit in the wall.  Punishment should be that Hutcho gets tied between the goal posts and the whole team gets to drill balls at him for an hour.

Wait, that's not going to hurt him.................

Heff, Heff, HEFF!!! FFS CONTROL YOUR TEMPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It looked like confidence was the biggest thing for us today.  Most of the game we did really well against them.  Archie got through a few times, but thank god he's about as good at shooting as staying on his feet.  We took it to them really well and made some great attacks, however I always had the feeling that Melb seemed a bit more professional, a bit more in control.  It looked like a challenger team playing the dominating team.

I think that idea went though the minds of the players, which is why our strikers tried to bury the ball in the net instead of trying to put the ball in the net.  It was like watching a team full of Kwassies (the same problem - he didn't have much confidence so he tried too hard to score).  As a result of the confidence issue, as soon as they scored we just lost the plot, started hacking and coming in late, and lost our formation.

Is it wrong if I don't want us to make it to the finals?  We're nowhere near being a GF winning team at the moment - and I don't know if I can handle another few games of that rubbish.  Besides, if we get into the finals then the team is going to look better than they actually are...

We're still giving away way too many easy balls when trying to punch the ball through to our attackers, and our crosses were ordinary too.

I also think that Melb were pushing in the back a lot more than us last night, and when the referee decides he's going to be pretty lenient on that sort of thing then we generally don't do too well because we don't know what to do about it - especially when you're playing against a team of divers who will eat dirt the moment they feel breath on the back of their neck.

Am I payed to play?

And finally, did I say even I could have saved those goals?

Im sick of this "your not as good as the players/coach, so your not qualified to comment" attitude thats constantly thrown about around here.

Don't worry Cap'n, Dibo gave him a week off for that. I believe BJ is heading to Washington for the inauguration with all the spare time he now has.

I don't know how many of you discussing Danny and the free kick were at the game and haven't yet seen a replay, but to make things worse it went IN BETWEEN young Vuko's legs. This is after going between (I think) Hutcho's legs. SOMEONE put their penis or SOMETHING in the way of these freekicks ffs. We are becoming the worst free kick defenders in the damn league.

IMO if Hernandez scores a free kick against you, you need to have a long, hard look at yourself in the mirror. The guy's a complete chopper from set pieces.

Also, mad props to the Marinator who came up on the big screen and didn't dance about like a roflcopter. Just sat there looking very sad. I hope CCM see that 5 secs and uses it as inspiration to man up for the supporters.

I dunno about you, MattSimon, but there's no way I'm flopping out the schlong to stop a ball going that fast!

To be fair, Hutcho is the greatest player this team has ever seen and should never be dropped.  EVER.  Our formation should be:

-----------Hutch-----------
Hutch--Hutch---Hutch---Hutch
Hutch--Hutch---Hutch---Hutch
--------Hutch----Hutch------

Because when our "manager" relays all his instructions to Hutch, whilst Captain Weakknee's Slowcoach is being all inspiring in looking insipidly slow and out of position EVERY f**kING TIME, why don't we make Hutch captain, life member of the Mariners, First Team Coach, head physiotherapist - f**k it, GIVE HIM LYALL'S JOB!!!!  The favouritism in this club is out of control and it has to stop.

Just before kickoff last night, Melbourne were in a team huddle, looking all confident and determined and shit, Muscat laying down the law, players looking at him with respect in their eyes...... we were too busy sorta half assed wandering around the field, and the camera cut to Lawrie relaying instructions to Hutch (about the 86th time this season), whilst Wilko had his hands on his hips with a fearful look in his eyes.  Not the most inspiring of situations.

P.S.  I don't give a flying shit if Jedi wanted to leave or not - selling him was the dumbest f*cking decision of the season.  We're now left with a middle 3 (based on last night) of Gumps, Hutch, and Porter.

i).  Gumps should have been starting all season
ii).  Hutch - garbage.  Utter, utter garbage.  Has been all season, and the apologists sticking up for him are f*cking stupid.  Wake up to yourselves
iii).  Porter - HE'S A F*CKING ATTACKING MIDFIELDER WHO'S BEEN PLAYING RIGHT BACK ALL SEASON AND IS THEN THRUST INTO A LEFT WING SPOT, WHAT THE FLYING F*CK?!?

Despite it being the actual North End....you were actually located down with the 'South End"

The ends at Docklands are named after the two greatest goalkickers in AFL history, Gordon Coventry & Tony Lockett.

The Lockett End is to the North, and the Coventry End is to the South.

Greenpole, there are permanent signs in place naming these two ends. May I ask if they have been taken down for A-League games? They are definitely in place for AFL, Cricket & State of Origin?
