The Mariners need to look outside their little square for recruitment.

Only looking as far as Paramatta power ex players is a joke! Don't believe me check the website.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parramatta_Power

We need a experienced CB with Euro experience and a current or former socceroo and if possible a marquee (Attacking Mid).

Yes almost all of those can come from Paramatta power ex players but we need to look a little further a field.

1. At the end of the day it is the PLAYERS that are on the field,
2. McKinna can only teach so much, as per point 1. it is up to the players to apply the coaching on the field.
3. Yes, we have sucked the last few rounds. I'm sure you want to blame SOMEBODY
4. We lost - IN THE SEMI FINALS. As stated above, we got that far.
5. A lot of you whiners are starting to sound like Rebecca Wilson, do you want a job at the Daily Telegraph??
6. If you think you can do a better job - go do it instead of complaining.
7. If you don't like it f**k off and do or watch something else. I'm a loyal supporter - through thick & thin. I supported the Bulldogs (NRL) for 20 years even through all the mud that the PLAYERS (and some supporters) dragged the name through.
8. We lost a few good players this year, we have to get back on our feet, and that won't take a week to do, but months of training.
9. Different code, but what about the Souths Supporters - they haven't won since the 1800's (bit exaguration, yes no need to point it out) but there fans have obvoiusly stayed loyal for all those years.

SO QUIT YOUR BITCHIN' AND GO DO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE

Yes you support the club, as do most that post on this forum. I dare say that you will support the club long after Lawrie has moved on.

And as far as your argument about "if you don't like it f**k off" or "if you could do better - go do it"

BRAVO - great stuff mate I didn't think about that. GIMP

Move LM upstairs and bring Viddie in once he gets the arse next week!

Then find a thug for the back four and a marquee midfielder.

Make one of them the captain and away we go!

Easy........ 8)

Think the club needs Lawrie as manager not as coach.Replace fergie with someone who can be head coach and lawrie can concentrate managing the team n club like he use to.

Agree with the bolded sections. We need a thug that knows gamesmanship. No point having a tough as nails defender who spends half the time suspended. Muscat is a prime example of what we need. And whilst he's not a thug, Moore's another example of the kind of steel our back four needs. I thought his effort on Friday night was epic. Definitely do not need a Tiatto type of character.

Yep that's the way to go...
Any time that i've been to a mariners training (when fergie was present) Lawrie was chatting to us alot of the time or even joining in with the training. Fergie ran the whole show and was constantly stopping play and actually coaching.

Lawrie is a manager, not a coach. So we need a new coach and take the workload off Lawrie so he can do what he is best at.

reading these posts you would think we finished last.... ffs we made the finals even if it was not convincing we could be in a lot worse shape ie newcastle

Scum just recruited 4 or 5 excellent players!  We got Kwas back, rejected by Wellington!

Mckinna has to go. No one can start a match we need to win by 3 goals, with 2, not 1 but 2 defensive midfielders. One being hutch. Whilst leaving petrovski, mrdja, caceras, gumps on the bench, and pedj boogs not even in the squad. Every queensland fan at the game said WTF, thanks lawrie.

I cant see him being kicked, but if he isnt he needs to be rushed into more coaching courses, and we NEED an assistant with some fire in his belly, cause lawrie doesnt have it.

I love lawrie, but he does not have what it takes.

It was definately the best bench we have every had!!!

Souths have no fans (that actually go to the games)....so whats your point!

We are not winging we are stating a fact....the team and the coaching of the team is not good enough anymore.
Fans, that know about Football, can see this.
It needs to be debated............otherwise we are just putting our heads in the sand.

From the responses i've seen so far only maybe 25% want McKinna out but 70% can see that things are not rosy.

I just posted this in the squad thread so hold your fire and let's see what is coming.

Seems like we have some new players coming.

http://www.smh.com.au/news/sport/football/a-league/defeated-mariner-a-roar-fan/2009/02/14/1234028348317.html

Coach Lawrie McKinna hinted after Friday's match that changes would be made to the team.

"We'll be assessing the boys, where they are at physically, freshen them up a bit and we've got new boys coming in," he said.

"We've got some things in the pipeline, there's not going to be a lot of downtime, we have got a big four months ahead of us now."

I'll be faxing off my ACL home ticket application shortly, coughing up hard earned, even though I may get a media pass anyway.

I will expect a competitive performance, a lot better that the last 6 weeks, particularly as they've known what we are in for since we became Premiers 12 months ago and since Adelaide showed what it means.

If we are totally shamed rather that do well enough, then there will be just cause for calling for heads.

I am sure those travelling will have even more to say.

Unfortunately because I knew I would be moving this year and unable to get to most games, and also unable to afford the membership due to said move...moving towns isn't cheap, I didn't renew my membership, and now, I am moving back to the coast, and will be able to get to games, and will have to wait til next year to renew my membership.

Obviously no excepting a Sir Alex like reign by Lawrie, but really are their better alternatives out there?

DV will quote you a list of people the vast majority of people wouldn't know if they ran them down in their car, and who would cost the club loads of cash that by all indications they simply don't have/are unwilling to spunk on a new manager.

this is of course assuming that we actually do want to get rid of lawrie.

my view is that after 3 finals appearances in 4 years we're not going too badly, thanks very much. there's always room for development and improvement and i think he's done enough to be given the opportunity to continue that work.

Dibo imo that fact is misleading.

If there were no finals series that record wouldn't look nearly so good. Not bad but far from brilliant.

But of course this is all being debated elsewhere. ;)
