Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I've just got a few things to say:
- Lawrie is probably his own harshest critic

When I hear him say, I got the tactics wrong or I should have dropped Hutch and Wilko during the season then I will agree.
grendel said:
- Seriously, if the money guys who control the club think LM is to blame they'll do something about it
Depends on how much money they have, better to have the fans blaming the gaffer than them for not providing the cash, then there is the payout for sacking the manager.

Maybe Newcastle, Perth or even Leeds will get out of their little form slump soon?  The one good thing about the a League is a form slump is not that drastic - you can only move 8 places although you could go broke just like the original New Zealand franchise.

Obviously your opinion must be correct then as it is not warped or alcohol-addled!

We don't think we can abuse them for not performing - we can, at the match, on this forum, even down the pub whils preparing to unleash our alcohol addled view.  Whether they listen or not, get upset, laugh it off now that is another thing.

The short season (thanks FFA!) means there is very little room for error. Look at Doncaster Rovers, they might just do something this season with their current form after being bottom in before Christmas.

But can't you say that for fanbases almost everywhere else on the world?

Well, an internet fans forum is probably the worst place in the world to be looking for well-educated and concisely-structured arguments. (...which, btw, dooccasionally pop up.)

However most people that frequent this forum accept the risk of exposure to any number of uneducated, poorly-researched, biased, and sometimes drunken posts... and try not lo let it give them the shits.

Ummm what about fans who boo/abuse their own players and managers at the game?

Remember when Sheffield Wednesday bombed out of the Premiership in 2000. They were being clobbered by Coventry 4-1 in a game which the travelling Wednesday support booed their own players' every touch of the ball. And they deserved it fully, because the squad then was better than their gutless, spineless, miserable performances throughout that season indicated.

Of course, they saved their two best performances for when it was far too late. They went 3-1 up at Highbury and ended up 3-3 to confirm Wednesday's fate, and then beat Leicester 4-0 in a dead rubber game.

Happy days indeed alhough not quite as good as the 89/90 season with United promoted to division one and Wednesday relegated - one of the best days of my life, what a trip back from Leicester that was!!!

Of course, but then again 99/00 didn't have the best of starts for the Blades either, before Neil Warnock took over.

Come to think of it Warnock reminds me a bit of Lawries current situation.  He did a fanastic job given the resources but we never played any decent football under him.  He was in a similar position where the fans repected his past achievements and what he had done for the club but it was time for change.

The Blades havent really gone forward since he left. Struggled under Robson and with Blackwell selling James Beattie i think they might struggle to be in the playoffs. They have really gone backwards since Xmas.

Don't think it was Blackwell's decision to sell Beattie, just as I suspect it was not Lawries to sell Mile...........you just have to look back in Sheff U's history to see who drives the sales, difference is certain managers like Spackman wouldn't put up with it!

I agree with you but to me McCabe looks way to busy with his investments rather than being a Chairman of the football club and its all about money.
From my knowledge in December Beattie was going no where. All of a sudden he goes to Stoke who are likely to go down from a team going forward. Again another strange decision. Will be interesting if they ever get their hands on the 30 million pounds West Ham owe them and what McCabe does with the money.

Heh we got Don Hutchison off you guys... I actually liked him and was upset when we sold him to Sunderland.

Appointing Bryan Robson was a really, really, really poor decision because the squad was/is too good not to go up.

if Mile had stayed and broke his leg who would have replaced him anyway??
as far as i can see if you have a player who is a "star" shouldn't the coaching staff have a back up player already versed in the same tactics so the team does not change shape and lose momentum??
The more players we can showcase and sell for a profit the better recruitment we will also get as long as we have back up players

After reading pages 1-9, I have decided that David Votoupal needs his own nude statue.

Already been done.......here's a replica.  ;) ;D

Apparently the plaque on the wall behind the statue is David's list of coaches the Mariners should employ.
