ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I haven't rewatched the game but was not really impressed with Bernie this week, but Arnie will probably stay with him another week until amini is up to speed and a decision has to be made. Ryan is also out. I think we will see

-------------Pasfield------------

Trent----Wilko-----Big Pat----Rose

--------------Griffiths----------

WeeMac-----------------------Hutch

--------------McBreen--------------

----------Bernie--------Simon------

Bench: Matic, Hearfield, Amini, Kwas

I am glad someone else has the same feelings as me. I think Bernie is a great prospect but still has a long way to go to be up to A-League standard.

Too many times there was no one attacking the 8 yrd box when the ball was to be crossed.

Too much back to goal without the strength to hold the ball.

Too many chances without a score.

Too much hesitation.

This should all come with experience, but he is not yet the Messiah.

There have been many times in the last 2 weeks when what we needed was a poacher, someone who is in position, someone who is there to just tap it in and someone who knows when to be on far post.

Bernie is great running onto the ball, he is great when he takes on players in the box, but he is not up to standard yet.

Hopefully Amini may be able to feed him when he comes back, however a full game is still some way off.
And he also is still learning and has a way to go.

We are expecting far too much, far too soon, from both these exciting prospects.

I think we need to back off a little bit, stars out of our eyes, be a bit more critical, and be aware of their limitations.

I think you are being far too critical.

He is a massive prospect. He has scored 2 from 3 starts. He is light years ahead of many other strikers we have had and some we still have. Yes he made quite a few mistakes against Melbourne but he also created many opportunities. His movement is superb. He is a jewell that Arnie will polish and CCM will reap the rewards. A rough diamond at the moment but a diamond none the less.

His first touch is pretty poor. He gives the ball away a lot. He has loads of potential but isn't there yet.

Agree. he is still very much the raw product. I've no doubt that he will improve as the season goes on.

On McBreen i like him in the no. 10 role. he has the size and strength to make things happen. i would preserve with him in this position as there are some good glimpses of what can happen when they get get their sh#t together.

Bernie sorta reminds me of Matty early on. Matty has clearly worked extraordinarily hard to get where he is now and Bernie needs to take advice and follow that example.

Bernie is far better than Matty was when he first started, Bernie has skill, Matty didn't, we've seen Bernie cut the ball inside and feint defenders to one side or the other, Matty is a heads down, run faster and harder (not smarter)

I think that's right - though Bernie's had a very good basic football education at Westfield Sports High and played NSWPL with Blacktown City (which is probably why he came on our radar rather than Sydney). Matt Simon went to Eddies and played for East Gosford and Lightning.

I think Matty had more improvement left at the point he became an A-League player than Bernie has. Look at Matty's play now - comes to the ball centrally or plays wide, can go himself behind the line and poach close range goals, or he crosses, or he shoots from distance.

I'm excited by Bernie because I think he has at least the potential to become another Matty Simon. That's no small thing - it's a credit to Bernie that he's described in those terms and it's a credit to Matty that he's now a strong benchmark in himself.

Excellent points. Matt has improved well under the professional environment. He was always keen to play professionally and as gone on to represent his country which we should all be proud of. He plays to instructions more so than any other player I have played along side of.
