1-0 great result. Good to see Dylan persist and bag the goal, and thought it great he went straight over to Matt Simon after bagging it to thank him for that excellent late hard cut cross into him from the byline.
Congrats to those who did the tifo display, went down well. Those I was with in the stands thought it looked good.
Very fast 20 minutes of match, which tolled on the stamina and patience later in the match. IMHO I thought Wilko swallowed some angry pills before the match, as he was all over Joel the c**t, and even Zero Zura (this guy is a joke, surely, Con).
Zura, I felt, was lucky not to get sent for the attacks on Danny. He impeded Danny's attempt to save off the ground on one occasion, they had a 'handbags at 10 paces' face off, then next occasion Zura went in studs up on Danny, raking his studs along Danny's quad.
When I noticed that Jedi wasn't playing I had real concerns. But, the rest of the midfielders seemed to step up their tracking back.
Can't let this go without mentioning Sasho. I cannot believe his commitment to the team this season. He is working very well, tracking back way into the defensive line sometimes, working the ball forward, passing to others (yes Jaza you read that right!) and quite frankly, has accepted a lesser starring role to help the team.
Having Sasho, Dylan, and Matty on the field at the one time caused a bloody head ache for Wheelhouse and North. The beauty of this is that we have Nik in reserve and all these guys can interchange out ot the wing or into the centre.
But it does leave us exposed defensively.
It does get better though. O'Grady had a great game, was a bloody menace to the likes of Song and Joel the c**t, in fact he monstered them at times.
I now reckon our best defensive line up, based on the form I saw last night and those left out, might be Wilko, O'Grady, Boogs and Bojic. Start off with the taller guys in the middle and if the opposition bring the faster guys in their attack, into the centre to run off our tall timbers, move Wilko or Bojic in for a spell. Once Wilko does get going he has some speed, and can handle RB. Bojic, as we've seen, does well at LB. I think I saw O'Grady out on the left a bit last night so if he can handle the left side of CB he would partner Boogs well (who seems more comfortable at right side CB).
Noticed, too, that Hutch kept his BS display down to a minimum and decided to play rather than nigle everyone.
Caceres missed a deadset sitter with only Covic to beat. If he can find his first touch he will be brilliant, at the moment he's dangerous lurking around behind the front line or coming in from out wide.
