what I don't get is how can give away a match that easily when you made it back twice. so much effort put in to reach the draw and than such poor defending in the stoppage time.
that's ridiculous

anyway, I think that you lack of a good central defender. won't say that Wilko is bad but he did a lot better when Doig played next to him. What about him??? Injured, suspended?
Besides that, it seems to me that you don't have someone in the midfield who is able to lead a match and play "lethal" passes.

What is most concerning for me is that you did quite well at the beginning of the season and declined over the season...

what's wrong???

Cockerill - "well there used to be the Marinators behind the Northern Goal here, they've all but disappeared".  *gets interrupted by play*  "I was making the point before about the Marinators - they're gone, but a new group is attempting to rebuild a support base here in Gosford".

Yeah and what struck me about this comment was he sounded very emphatic, like the word "marinators" and the group have completely disappeared off the planet.

How can the Brisbane player be that free inside the box ???
Travis got caught ball watching for about a second and mckay came through.

Where the hell was the crowd? 24C, sunny, on a weekend?
Thought Kwasnik and Weemac had off nights but the rest of the lads played well.
Zullo at left full back...Never put a foot wrong all match. One for the future in that position.

Did Simon have a big night out last night. He has on a number of ocassions just completely lost focus.

he has been like that for a couple of weeks now not the same matty. Maybe time for a rest. To me he seems like a spoiled brat if something goes wrong he starts to cry and just gives up. The second half was better they had one chance and took it. The ref was crap but can't blame him. The man of the match tonight goes to the Marinators or coastie boys {whatever} the Mariners supporters down the front of the bay well done never stopped singing even when we were losing. We need more people to the games but until we start winning people will not go, only the true supporters that like getting punished go week in week out.

Simon had an absolute shocker.  He knew it too.  He started to pick up at the end of the match, but the chances he blew came early, not late.

Entertaining first half, despite losing.  2nd half, I think we gave up.  However, I wonder how much Lawrie's subbing had to do with it - I've noticed Lawrie is developing a habit of taking off the players that are actually giving us momentum and replacing them with defensive players, or ones who are just crap.  The last few games, we've gone downhill as soon as subs have started coming on.

Take tonight for instance.  Matt Lewis was busting his gut, he was the only player who was actually running the ball from the midfield or the backs to the forwards instead of just booting the f****** thing 50 yards and making the ball somebody else's problem.  Quite often he was actually able to beat his player as well - heck, just before he was subbed he skinned 2 players, somehow, then put in an awesome cross right to the feet of...forget who.

So what does Lawrie do?  Takes him off and replaces him with one of the slowest, laziest, most useless f****** players in the league, AHMED F****** ELRICH.  I think he made all of 2 passes that reached their target - and one was simply because the roar player who should've intercepted took an airswing instead.  This guy is absolutely killing us.  As soon as he came on, momentum stopped and we just tried long balls, except Matt had no support up front.

Macca should be played right next to Matty, not 50 yards away on the other side of the field - Matty has absolutely nobody to feed off or to feed off him.

We were never going to win this match, not from the first whistle - Roar destroyed us individually for most of the game.  We won in the air (just saw the Roar at Mantra actually, man they're short!).

5468 for the crowd?  Pathetic, inexcusable.  We're in trouble.

Our defence tonight was absolute hopeless - was it Porter who was skinned by the world's most obvious inside turn for the first goal?  From the moment the ball was crossed he positioned himself for an inside turn.  A blind guy (no, not the referee) could've seen what he was going to do.  Woeful.

I just wonder how long the club is prepared to put up with falling crowds and appalling performances before we see some changes?

There are players who started tonight who are not in any way close to being HAL standard while our yoof team is sweeping all before it. 433 was actually 451 as usual.

If there were 5,400 there, I am a dutchman - 4k tops

From my view

Danny - 6 didnt have a lot to do and nothing he could do about the goals
Porter - 5 Simply not a RB. End of
Boogs - 6
Wilko - 7 tried but not an organiser or leader
Clarkie - 8 MoM for mine. Great shift tonight
Travis - 6 wasnt at his best by any means. Not a 90min player
Wee Mac - 5 Anonymous
Pedj - minus 47. 2nd goal was his fault. cant pass, no first touch. Getting worse
Lewis - 6  Solid, tries hard. One for our future
Kwas - No comment
Matty - 4. Worst game for some time.
Subs:
Elrich. Meh, wrong wing and it showed - quality coaching again
DMac - apart from the header not much either

Frankly we got what we deserved. Nothing

I fail to understand this 4-5-1 counter-attacking garbage at home.  Clearly it's not working (and hasn't done all season), why persist??

This time last season (or was it V3, I can't remember) we had 15 000+ crowds for 4 games in a row.

This season......... well.  Yeah.

I think it was supposed to be 433 but the players arent good enough. To play 433 well, you need to be a very good side and used to it.

What usually happens is the other side press the 2 wide players and hey presto 451. That isolates the lone striker as we saw all too often. Not that Matty can play the lone striker role well anyway.

The one off tactical flukes (3-0 against GC at home, the games in Melbourne) are being worn away by this ongoing ineptitude.  We're not (to use corporate speak) "moving forward" as a team.... we're fast in reverse.

Imagine Travis and McGlinchey playing for, I dunno - Melbourne or Brisbane.  They'd be tearing this League apart.  As is, they're frustrated in a team that forgets what "width" is and are offered little protection from their midfield compatriots, and get crowded off the ball when the "4-3-3 that never quite is" reverts to the 4-5-1 shite.

*sigh*

this worked quite well in the first couple of matches (from what I have seen on the stream). what happened? is all dependent on Doig?

It looks that way.

They don't apear to have learned anything.

Or Doigs been out that long they've forgotten whatever he taught them.

Injury ravaged his whole career, plays 2 out for 6. We took a gamble and it has failed

Some sensible people noted this when the signing was announced...... the usual apologists for the coach hailed it as a great signing blah blah.

All well and good when he's on the field, but as Andrew said, a gamble only works sometimes.
