ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners V MV Rd 9 - NSO match

And yet you are quite happy to follow MC leading your 3rd club into oblivion, well unless you count North Sydney Mariners or whatever the license becomes as the same club.

I thought I stated why the Mariners will not move to North Sydney. Maybe you should read my post again.

Anyway I have had my say, you can carry on blaming the guy who has forked out $6m to keep the club going. And who is, of course, determined to send it into oblivion in order that he loses his investment.

I don't know why I cannot see this.

the guy reputedly that has put 6 million into the mariners . does not look like a saviour .
rather an opportunist . he's not carrying the support of what ? 6000 members .
really that to me means . his motives aren't the love of football . but the love of a bottom line

Maybe because you have not had the experience of the McCabe inspired property and outside football revenue stream financial models. Mariners have served their purpose in getting support, development fast track, govt funding for the property development on the coast. Repeating the same in the Sydney real estate market would be worth a lot more!

Businessmen don't put this kind of money into anything out of a desire to be the saviour that you see him as. He has financial return in mind through the COE. Please stop pretending anything otherwise.

He was also the person who pushed for longer A League licences for the owners, and got what he wanted. There is also a reason behind that push.

It's not difficult to put it all together to get a feel for where he is going too.

Droll...

So where do we then cross the line from being "bloody selfish, precious, and are weak supporters" and to being justifiably angry? Is there such a line? Or should we tow the line at all times?

At the end of the day, I'm not judging you or AM for wanting to go to NSO, all I'm asking is much the same respect in return...

We keep coming back to this thing about them never leaving the coast... It seems to continuously be ignored that the team could easily still train at Tuggerah and play at NSO for example... Indeed they will be this Friday... For MC it's not an either or, he can move the gameday experience without having to leave the investment in the COE behind, without it necessarily being at much of a cost in that sense.
So if we were to assume that he's decided that we're all 'piss-weak', there's nothing stopping him from going elsewhere, assuming that 'elsewhere' isn't somewhere like South Melbourne.

I do not want the Mariners to move to North Sydney.

I have never said that I want the mariners to go to North Sydney.

I have said NSO is unsuitable for more than the odd A-League game.

I have never shown any disrespect to any poster named nebake.

Unlike nebake who told me to P**S off and then puts untrue words in my mouth.

Be careful sunshine or I will show you the same respect.

.

Apologies, I could have worded that clearer... I would have judged you if you actually wanted the team to move, that is not what I meant... What I meant was, I don't judge you for wanting to go and watch the team at NSO on Friday...

You've been there, done that - already... That was the whole reason for my initial outburst...

Just to remind you, this is what you wrote in your previous message:
"As for the 80% local support being risked by this all I can say is that if they are, they are being bloody selfish, precious, and are weak supporters. They are responsible for their own actions and can blame no one but themselves if their withholding of support damages the club."

You think that's a nice and respectful way to refer to your fellow fans, do you?
I AM one of the local supporters who will not be going on Friday because I don't feel that it is in the interest of the club or the team. For that, you're calling me and those of my ilk, 'selfish, precious and weak supporters' how is that not disrespectful?

You will unless it can be made financially more viable by increased members and/or sponsorship, or unless a new owner can be found with very deep pockets to spend the money to ensure success.

The main problem I have with it is its a really bad idea that won't work. The North shore people don't want a team called the Central Coast Mariners and moving games kills off the support they already had.

With proper community engagement the catchment if 300,000 people is plenty big enough to support the club.

If done right the club can succeed.

Hits the nail on the head.

Keep up the good work guys.

Do whatever it takes to make the North Sydney experiment a failure.

Show the owner of the club that you will not attend games in protest nor renew your memberships.

And, when you are successful and plan A fails, I am certain you will all find plan B much more acceptable.

Won't you..........................?

Sorry AM....you make some good points but I can't just bend over and let a shady character like Charlesworth bend me and the collective CCM support over and give me the good news.
Potential rapists are not to be trusted or tolerated.

this is what me thinks also, good summary. the concern is any in roads in north syd will likely be offset by the bad blood created in the home market. this same effort could be put into the central coast catchment - averages were at 13k once already

Why not just be truthful so that the club gets a good indication for the future.
I won`t be going to North Sydney Oval.
At this stage I have no intention of ever going to NSO or Brookvale to watch a game.
Therefore, from the 6,500 rusted ons there will be 2 less.
In my own sad way I`m not protesting ,I`ll watch the game on TV & the club (through the gate) will be able to get a more accurate result for their experiment,
so I`m actually helping them.:tinfoilhat:
