I hate Sydney at times more than the Scum... have managed to bring an additional four mates ...

Always remember when Kossie's Killer's kicked the shit out of us in Hal 3, broke Hef's leg ... and I think cost us the grand final we were never the same again...

Those were the days when we had huge crowds. Can't wait for that day to come back. Bring on Saturday

Simply an absolute MUST WIN for us!

We need 3 points to get us back into the mix of favourite for the top six, it was at this stage last year we struggled so a good perforamce will break that and boost the guys psychologically!

PEREZ AND PEDJ BACK, no worries, Mariners 2-0 Bozanic, Perez

Any news on how Matty pulled up??

With McBreen suspended and is Simon's injured, (who knows where Mrdja is) we might need to be giving Bernie or someone form youth a call up, or we are not much chance at being able to go back to our preferred and proven 442.

Otherwise... I guess it's Kwas as lone striker??

With perhaps a 4141 of....

---------------Ryan---

--Pedj??/Wilko -- Doig -- Ducthy -- Rose--

--------------Griffiths

-- Weemac ---- Amini ---- Perez ---- Ollie

--------------Matty??/ Kwas

Bench?? Hutch, Lewis, Sainsbury??

If Matty's out, even with a lone striker we still need at least another striker on the bench...

Fact is with Perez just returning, Sainsbury not ready yet, Amini struggling to play 90 atleast according to GA's subs... and if McBreen, Simon and Pedj are out...then we are looking a bit thin on the ground atm. Heaven help us if Perez isn't fit yet aswell - which wouldn't exactly be surprising would it...

Fact is we badly need to sign another striker and should really have got an injury cover for RB when Porter first went down also.

I'm glad Midfielder started this thread so early so we can hopefully forget Sunday and start concentrating on this one. Easily our most important game of the season but I think we'll probably say that every week. Our chance to get back on track at home against an ordinary side.

With McBreen and possibly Simon out, you'd think Kwas is automatic to start. Hopefully Pedj is back and Perez can get half an hour. Fire the fark up people and roar the boys home. The boys need it now more than ever.

Despite Sunday, I still think we're a huge chance for top two and I'm happy. We've got a great coach, the squad has good depth and the young blokes have been exceptional when their stepped in. No doom and gloom here. Have faith and believe. There's massive room for improvement and that's the good news. We're fourth and if you said we'd be fourth half way in at the start of the season, I think most of us would have happily taken that. We're doing OK and will only get a hell of a lot better.

This is definitely the little club that can, and it can be this season.

We need to revert back to 4-4-2, assuming Simon is out and if Mrdja is fit it will be Kwas and Mrdja to start up front. Otherwise give Bernie a run, but you would think plan Z would be Hutch.

The suggestion of Kwas up front on his own is just crazy, he ain't that type of player and if he did play that role he'd get roasted, he's much better playing off another striker or cutting in from the wing. If GA chooses 1 up front again (please no), then Mrdja is the only 1 who could pull it off.

Pedj should be back, rumours of Perez coming in whether it be off the bench or starting so I think this game is very winable.

Strikerless.

I'm not kidding. There are various strikerless shapes that can be very effective, and arenactually very attacking and unpredictable.

Hope to see as many people as possible from this forum in bay 16 on Saturday night.
We want to have it packed like it used to be.
I'll be in the Kendall pre game if anyone wants to talk about the future of mariners support.

Nik is on a hiding to nothing if he starts on Saturday. For whatever reason, and discussion of that now is pointless, he has had about 3/4 of a game in matchplay so far this season. To expect him to come in now and do what the other two couldn't do even after all the games they've played, is not logical. He has to be rusty, even Harry & Timmy C would be the same under the same circumstances.
As someone else has said, it doesn't look like Nik will be here after this season, so blood someone from the Youth who HAS been getting match fitness. Bring up Bernie, or maybe Sam Munro (that would be poetic against the club that didn't want him), and give them a go. I know Munro isn't a striker, but he does know what the inside of the opponent's net looks like.
I know those kids don't have any (or much) A-League experience, but neither did Matty Ryan or Musty. Give them a go, what do we have to lose?
Of course if Matty Simon is fit, this becomes irrelevant, but at least we could put one of them on the splinter and blood him late.

Looks like Matty Simon will make it for Saturday which is awesome news.

From what I understand Bernie is the preferred striker replacement and will slot in on the bench. He has been putting them away with the youth team while Mrdja has not.
