ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Should we contemplate?
Alen Stajcic

I dont really know how effective he has been in the womens game, but I think something that we REALLY need is a coach with either good link to recruiting, or an image in the game that would attract a high quality of player from his past exploits.

Would he actually cover these points?

Charlesworth ego got us here, its the only thing that can get us out. I expect him to try and suckle up to Phelan for a coach from England and some sort of Man U "relationship" where he can send a few out of favour players. We smell like dog shit, no one would want to come here apart from young guns looking for game time. rub a bit of big English club stink on us and we might still land a few decent fish

Must already have someone in mind with this statement...

Wow that's quick, as you say they must have someone in mind. Chances are MM has been on thin ice for a while now and this hammering was the catalyst for the push. Perhaps they were willing to let him see the season out before the game but not anymore. It seems unlikely management were getting on the phone and making a knee jerk reaction to sack him without thought for the future.

Yeah I feel Stajcic might be a typical Mariners move to keep in the headlines and keep relevant.
The Mariners giving him a ‘lifeline’ would put us in good grace with the Australian public and might gain support from other stakeholders in the football community.
Might be the foundation for building a better Australian network and maybe not just
‘a coach’ but a team of support for the coaching environment.
And players might come along with the reputation and support of the multiple faces of Australian football that would support his claim.
If we were going to do it, would have to be now before it becomes old news and something else is the hot topic.
‘Other than the Mariners being shit’

Id say that not just the result, but a multitude of other things happening in the last fortnight were the catalyst for this sacking. Hoole's attitude both prior and post his stand down, the rumour I heard somewhere that Pain had 'had a chat' to Mulvey during the week and was then dropped form the game day squad, the fact that our captain not only is so bloody frustrated with the situation he is on a ban for ref abuse, but that Jem got a yellow for exactly the same thing in the very next match. Our players are leaving - we have a player manager who is doing whatever he can to get his players out of the team for next season - this sacking was inevitable, but I think the result on Saturday made it imperative that the timing was bought forward.

Call me a pessimist but I feel like the typical mariners move would be to hire him and then 2 weeks later the FFA decides to reveal details and the dirty laundry is really nasty. Not that I think that's the case just how I'm always ready for things to blow up in our face.

Agreed, salvage a point or lose a tight game and maybe that stuff gets swept under the rug. But after the blow out loss all those factors sit front and centre as failures. I hadn't heard about the Pain rumour.

I’m with you, I think Stajic has done a fantastic job for the Matilda’s but what triggered his sacking.Buyer beware...

Wonder if the club will make the decision to try and sign Tommy, Jem and Connor to mkae a solid core attractive to any new coach? Show that we aren't a total basket case.

If what you posted about them finding a new coach by Tuesday is correct then I would imagine that candidate has already had his say privately on who he wants to stay or go.

I should clarify I don't think there necessarily is some major skeleton in the closet there but it would be peak mariners and peak A league for us to make a big deal about it right before dirty laundry starts airing. But if something was going to come out I can't see it happening outside a law suit at this point.

very true. I would expect the announcement of the signings approx 24hrs after the new manager then lol.
