ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I actually just had a thought - does anyone think that Cisse missing the game day squad the last couple of weeks may point to his early departure??

The bad times have come for an obvious reason and its Charlesworth... he took the most successful club in Hal, with huge goals and aspirations in player development and the development of Australia's best sporting youth academy of any sport, supported by building of a club along with motel etc at the COE.

As a club we had two years of profit according to media reports and our losses where the lowest in Hal... our major owner lost his arse in the Wall Street creation of a world depression they renamed the GFC... anywho Peter was rooted and broke and Gorman had no more money but but but Gorman inspiration to create the COE and get it done was amazing... along the way we found coach with a silver tongue and spoke the language of Football folk...

With Goreman and Peter broke and FFA stealing Goreman to save Hal with no funds to us... LM stepped aside and he appointed Arnold who as it turned out was a another master stroke for the ""little club the should not"" ..

In steps Charlesworth and screws both Peter & Goreman, then attempts to run at a profit by cutting costs to the bone..

The cost saving where more than offset by the fall in revenue.... and the appointment of that former Brisbane Roar guy as the CEO who publicly stated the old ways where out and he and MC would show us how to make money... it was simple move the club to North Sydney ...

Gallop refused and both SFC & WSW objected so MC was forced to make do with the Coast.... he has sold almost everything at the COE so much so we don't even train there anymore.

Its been obvious to me that, MC wants to sell and not only recover his losses but make a profit and he is waiting for an independent Hal ... my guess he will sell to a Canberra based bid ... BTW I have no inside knowledge nor has anyone suggested this to me ...

Hope I am wrong about MC selling to another bid team away from the Coast but it looks that way to me...
I think Central Coast Council would be insane to let the Mariners move away. I frankly didn't know that the Central Coast or Gosford existed before I started watching the A-League. While that might just be an insular Victorian for you, seeing the beautiful Brisbane water and Stadium beamed into at least 40,000 homes everytime we play at home is some terrific tourism advertisement that other regional centres just don't get. I wouldn't know the Central Coast was a destination much less be going on a holiday to Gosford in a few days without the Mariners. The Mariners are a significant tourism asset to the Central Coast and if there are discussions about relocating then Central Coast Council should realise that value.

I don't think the council cares. Idk anything except snippets of things l have heard, but the council is anti-Mariners l believe.

Could we raise the local rates by $50-100 and the side could be owned by the people of the central coast? 127,000 private dwellings recorded on the central coast during the 2016 census. $6M to $12M per year would available?

It’s a cool idea but too much to ask of the general population. Plus if you do that it opens the gates to tacking it on for other stuff. I wouldn’t be keen to subsidise an NRL or NBL bid so can’t expect others to pay for an A league team.

Why not have both
We have bigger needs elsewhere and given the likely minimal funds available, I would prefer to see a better keeper bought in and a proven goal scorer tbh.

The other areas that folks are concerned about could be covered by deploying the right players in those positions (Aspro at CB, Tommy H at 6 and Tommy O at 10) imo. Bench Hoole and Weemac and give Shamwow a proper go in the AM role.

My preferred line up would be as follows:

New GK or Pearce

McGing. Aspro. Rowles

O’Neil

Millar. Tom H. Tom O. Pain

Simon. Murray

Sorry OH, but when I loook across other teams, pound for pound, I still see a side that is highly unlikely to compete.
  • Requires Oar to find form.
  • Aspro after being out for a long time to really shine.
  • Must be a new GK. Others were right - Pearce has some shot stopping skill and may be good in the years to come, but still a ways off being a HAL starting keeper imo.
  • McGing is not HAL standard imo.
  • For a back 3, which is always risky, that lineup is not strong enough and lacks leadership and experience.
  • Millar has done really well, but he’s still understandably raw and is inconsistent with his crosses or decision making yet.
  • Matty is not effective enough.
  • Murray - though I think there’s some signs - still has a ways to go to prove himself.

This could be a very interesting window or it could be a damp squib

At the moment we have one spot open and rumours of certain players going. We do not know who is going so we really can't speculate with any certainty who if anyone will come in. We may have no movement but equally they may be up to 4 losses and 5 coming in.

If there is little or no movement I feel that we are heading for back to back spoons and once again not being an attractive place to come to next season. A successful window, leading to a good run in the back end of the season can also set up next season.

I'm expecting little movement but hoping that MC realises that he is losing some of his most rusted on supporters of the club and moves forward investment in the squad in the expectation that there will be an independent HAL (when he has said or inferred he will invest in the squad) next season..

Bumped into arnie at the Beery 3 or 4 years ago, and this was very similar to his plan. While he was still here, he apparently floated it to charlesworth who told him to f**k off.
Arnie’s plan was much less $$ for the ratepayer though.

I'm curious to know exactly when the January transfer window opens.
I've seen both January 3 and January 4 used as starting dates for Australia.

Nix announced a signing this morning so maybe today? I hope whatever we do we get it done early to give us maximum chance to get value out of our changes and possibly see incoming players at the next home game.
