So Paolo went to Spain twice and Belgium once. I'm assuming one of the Spain trips was to see Cirio as i saw somewhere that he was at home. That leaves 2 players visited or watched. Could they be our 9 and 10?
One trip to Spain could have been to see Baro, the trip to Belgium could also have been a play for Bernie Ibini.(depends when he was there, Bernie signed a deal on 9th May)

rose with that quality defensive line could shine .im hoping for a quality 10 .
but the kid wouldn't be looking over his shoulder and could be real good with some confidence behind him

edit i believe

I wouldn't mind Rose as DM but not CAM. He should be alot better from his extended run of decent games at the back.

my thoughts also. if we go with 2 DMs then Rose/Hiariej could work well. but I don;t believe Rose quite has the vision for CAM, at least he hasn't convinced me so far

More to the point, I dont think Rose has convinced Paulo either. We struggled for #10 options last year, and Rose was pushed into a more defensive role in CB rather than attempting to use him as a bench #10.

Cant see him getting that far up the field next season.

PO told me at the fan forum that Rose has the ability to play as a 10 but lacked the fitness and endurance to run long enough and hard enough in midfield, hence he got moved back into defence, so his skills and ability could still be utilised.

Assuming the his fitness is something that can be worked on in pre season, no reason why he couldn't be considered for a more attacking role imho.

We signed Hoole

Unsure how to feel about it, maybe PO can teach him how to finish. Does he pass the 'no dickhead policy'?

fark right off. Is this the club being funny? Like, later this afternoon they'll update with "HAHAHAHA gotcha, it's really Cirio"?

This guy is just ...well, entertaining if nothing else. Seriously, the only entertaining thing in the F3 derbies this season was laughing at this clown.

Well, obviously Okon sees something in him that none of the HAL supporters ever see.

Still hoping for a good attacking signing later on.

There is no doubt that the kid has talent. As for what happened last year, who wouldn't be frustrated and pissed at the way the scum capitulated. Yeah he looked like a dick but to me it means he has passion and did not accept what was happening. He still scored 5 goals last year, if he can add 5 to our tally from the wing or midfield then that's going to be a bonus for us. 5 is more than Trent and Appiah score combined and the same as Fabio!
I'm willing to wait and see. He won't be on big bucks and our squad is filling out well. If we still sign a starting keeper, LB, 9 and 10 then this is some f**king great recruitment and we will finally have a deep squad.

Yeah, he kept trying, but we've never really had a lack of players who do that. It's doing something useful with all that red cordial which we've lacked.
I think there's still more exciting signings to come.
Not having time to watch much sport I really only watched our games, so maybe he showed brilliance in other once - but I know even the Jets fans didn't like him at all.
Hope to be proven wrong, of course.
From your comment, scottmac, about the kid having talent - made me think; we've always done an awesome job at youth development, best in the league in my biased opinion (COE and our NPL sides really perpetuate this as a strategy of ours). I would say that maintaining this is a challenge for Okon - but he clearly has the youth experience behind him there, so no concerns.

I only hope we i.e. the fans give him a chance to shine for us before we start slagging him. Paolo obviously thinks he's got something (and he has coached him after all) and the guy wants to be here. The surest way to make him a failure is to put him down early.

“Hooley is a fantastic talent,” Okon said. “I worked with him at the Young Socceroos and Olyroos – I saw his potential first hand. His flexibility to play both inside in a pocket and out wide on the wing complement our playing style, also he’s very good on set pieces which will bring us more goals.

“This is crucial in our recruitment strategy to have more strength in these areas. “Hooley can be a match winner and I’m confident he will contribute with assists and goals,” Okon said.

Okon's reasoning. Hopefully he does just that and extracts max potential. Hoole looks decent on the ball, always feels like a threat. Also a bit of a prat. Ah well, all the best programmers I know are arrogant c*nts, comes with the territory. Maybe he follows that type?

I've got to agree. Paolo also sees him as someone that can play an attacking central role. He may not be the answer at CAM - but we've been looking for an answer there for a few seasons and he may be the backup plan for that position. Plenty still to come.
