ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

This is another good move, I'm very impressed with the defensive signings we have made so far. But wow, this guy gets around - its his 8th professional team and he's only 27! Sydney,Adelaide, Wanderers, Perth, Moldavia, Persia, Korea - Gosford.

I'm not overly enthused by Golec but we could have done far worse. He's an A-League standard Centre Back, who if we're desperate can play Left Back. Paolo has worked with him before so he should know his strengths and weaknesses. If he has been signed as a left back, which to be fair I don't think he has been, it's a mistake as with Perth and the Wanderers he had no where near the pace to play there and was cut apart nearly every week. His last few clubs aren't particularly encouraging, he was dropped after two games by Persepolis and then was playing in the second division in Korea. Overall I think he's a decent signing, if not a world beating one, and I hope that he pushes Ascroft/McGing/Rose to improve themselves and win their position.

I think the fact he is 6ft 4 is a big factor. Glover is another tall guy and that adds some much needed height in our defence. We have been weak in the air since Dutchy left.

I'm guessing that there hasn't been a huge amount of money spent so far either. Seems like Okon is recruiting efficiently and they may be some money in the kitty to build some quality attack.

Agree, in terms of the players we have to replace I would guess the following $
Hewerd-Belle, Fletcher, McDonald,Necesvski - minimum
Izzo, Galloway, Poscoliero - mid
O'Donovan, Tavares, Faty, Monty, Fabio - top $

Tom Hooray and Baro would be top $, Golec min to mid?
Despite the criticism, Golec does have an ACL medal in his back pocket, played 13 games in WSW successful campaign.
I like the signings so far, Kwabi deserved another year.
I like the interest it has generated as well, this thread has had 10 pages of comments in the past week.

Not sure if it has been posted yet but Blackwood has been released from Sydney FC. Would be a very positive young signing with the right number 10 behind him

Was mentioned earlier we have apparently been talking to him. Could he be number 4?

as a young player looking for a starting spot I'd love to see him signed as a striker with Powell. I'd prefer to see money spend on a good attacking midfielder/midfielders

The underlying feeling for me is that solid football nous is directing policy. This makes me ~•sliiightly•~ more excited than I have been for a few years (Don't want to overdo it).

Yes. My memories exactly. Not great but not rubbish. Not a LB so we must assume Baro will play right sided CB.

So Paolo went to Spain twice and Belgium once. I'm assuming one of the Spain trips was to see Cirio as i saw somewhere that he was at home. That leaves 2 players visited or watched. Could they be our 9 and 10?

Let's hope so!! I'm very happy to hear that a keeper is on the radar, Okon clearly let Monty go knowing he had Tom lined up, so let's hope he let Royo go with a similar calibre replacement lined up

Not to many people disappointed he was released from Sydney reading comments on social media. Watched him in youth games for a couple of seasons not overly excited to be honest can not see the hype.

I dont want McGing as an 8 or Rose as a 10. back ups yes...starting no.
rose with that quality defensive line could shine .im hoping for a quality 10 .
but the kid wouldn't be looking over his shoulder and could be real good with some confidence behind him

edit i believe
