Will Monty even be captain? Has PO announced his captain yet?

He will be fighting for his job just like the rest of them. Hope it isn't so but will he suit PO style with so many DM's?

Not so long ago I was concerned about having so many players due to end contracts at the same time. With a new coach I now see this as a blessing, as well as the timing.
Be very concerned, the poor players that don't fit the mould will go but the good players are likley to walk. They have been waiting to get out. It is Okon that is on trial, if the players we want to stay think it more if the same then they will have options.

I suspect that roughly half will not be renewed with some going in January. Paul will be judging these players against players he knows can play the way he wants them to. The guys will need top perform if they want to be here next season.
He will want players that are good on the ball with passing range and accuracy. Monty maybe the first casualty. Fab, Faty and pain will struggle.

If I'm a player now that has his contract end date after this season I'm asking my manager to get busy on a gig elsewhere. Okon needs to prove to the players he can coach with what he has not have excuses for failure - we have suffered that fo too long

Monty was very good with the ball at the start of last year, and dropped away from there. He's capable; if he delivers he's set.

I do like the way you're seeing the worst of all scenarios though - that's an impressively negative outlook!

Not sure if Coach is being provocative or stupid????.....the later is most likely.

If Monty, Fab, Faty and Pain are going to struggle..................................who the f**k is going to shine?????

If we had of signed Wilko, maybe ... just maybe Monty might of lost the armband to him - taking the pressure off of him to concentrate/focus on his performance after what was a shit season for all the players where he had to juggle both his own game and the performances of everyone else !

But we didnt sign Wilko, so why would you not continue his reign as it's prob his last year anyway.

Giving it to Tav, Faty, R'OD would only upset the apple-cart, with all of them too - possibly being let go at seasons end.

Okon has to keep a dressing-shed onside, a stadium full of fans onside and an owner wanting 'no-more' drama/negative media.

Monty remaining as our loyal Captain
..... ticks ALL those boxes.

Perceived good players will only walk if they don't buy into his system, we have seen enough of that last year.

Although there is an element of truth to your comment about Okon being on trial. I don't think he has the right cattle yet to play the way he wants to play, so he needs a little latitude and support from us the die hard fans. God knows, he's not going to get that from the media.

We need to be patient, in the same way Adelaide fans were with Gombau. We will know soon enough because you'll see his passion and whether tactically he gets us competitive.

If players don't fit the coach's style and want to walk, would we stand in their way? Okon surely would leap at the opportunity to pick up players to replace them who do fit the mould.

Running my eyes over the victory squad, if Essien signs and if they don't have a heap of injuries, there might be a few disgruntled players who think they should be first 11 and aren't.

Could be interesting come Jan if Musc**t cant manage them well.

Wouldn't mind seeing one in particular with splinters in his arse!

Would love to have Boz back in this side too.

Much as I'd like Ollie back - what are we gonna do with him?
He was a great player, but people seem to forget that he had some remarkably average games as our #10 - he was always better at CDM... We've had a bit of a history with that sort of thing - look at Caceres - which makes me worry for Rose Jr too...

Anyways - it'd still be good to have him back... The closest we've actually come to a full-blown coastie product, bar Matty S... Be surprised if we could afford him though.

I don't remember him playing much at CAM, more at LM combining with Josh, with Pedj and McGlinchey doing the same on the right. Apart from that he seemed to play at CDM
