Only just read the news that WSW are willing to release him to another a-league club, he would look good in yellow!

I've always like TS - but my cousin and avid WSW fan doesn't rate him. Said when he's good he's good but is inconsistent and is probably only 'good' about 1 out of every 4 games...

I think he'd fit well with us though and would be happy enough with signing him

I would take TS in a heartbeat. Still young enough, composed, great leadership for the youngsters, gives us good aerial strength at the back, good attitude.....if we could get him for a little more than what Rosey was on then it's a no brainer. Not sure we could though and cash will be the obstacle.

^Certainly this.

With the guess of MC not wanting to spend all of Rosey's wage on someone like NTS, our best bet may be to see if another club here or in Asia is interested first, if not, then make the offer with a 'time running-out' situation in play.

The Koreans & Chinese clubs (even 2nd Div) throw solid coin at CB's of Topor's standard, the most likely destination for him.

I'm surprised Poppavic didnt sell him last year when the offers came in, seems that was a dumb move with hindsight for WSW coffers.
NOW to just let him go on a free before the season even starts .....

Are we even certain that all of Roseys wage is up for grabs? He certainly wouldnt be on the same coin at City and i find it hard to believe he walked without a partial payout which would be included in the cap if im not mistaken

Every year among his typically huge overhauls, Poppavic seems to release two players that to me it seems he's crazy for releasing and I always wonder if it's his famed "charisma" taking it's toll - or am I just mad.

I would also take the hyphenator in a heart-beat. He always flies under the radar, much like Wilko did, he's been incredibly consistent for WSW, or so the stats say. On an individual level, even when paired against someone like Delpierre for MV - arguably the best CB in the comp imo, who has played Ligue 1 and Budnesliga - NTS stats from last year are not quite as good, but they're not far off either.

Fans never seem to rate him, maybe a bit of a Hutch syndrome in that there's no excitement about him and he rarely starts or finishes an attack (He's no Dutchy to be sure) But I remember speaking to a couple of scum fans near the end of a match at the scumdrome, where NTS had just been one of the best on field - repeatedly saved their ass and frustrated the hell out of me all game - yet when they saw him on the ball they broke off the conversation to hurl abuse at him. When I pointed out that he'd actually been amazing that game and was the only reason they were still in it... they blinked a few times like they were coming out of a trance and nodded... I wandered off bemused - before one of their heads exploded and got sawdust all over my jersey.

I'd take NTS - but don't expect him to be the leader. If Faty was out you would need Posco to be the leader next to him. NTS has always done well with someone strong next to him - whether it was Spira or Meggsy. By himself he is rudderless.

I am flying against popular opinion here. NTS's cards were marked at the back end of last season, he was particularly off the pace and aweful in the GF. In fact I'll speculate if he didn't have a contract for this year he would have been cut the week after the GF. Certainly we need a player of his type circa 2012, but not him not now.

NTS has been very consistent and has led the Wanderers in all but 1 extremely successful seasons. Big difference between WSW and us is that Poppa is almost obsessive about a grand final win before he packs up his bags for a bigger coaching gig. He is tweaking( actually more culling) the side in order to get them from finalists to winners. Conversely we are coming from wooden spooners to hopefully a top 6 spot. To have a player of Nik's stature and experience would greatly help us get there.

Agree, Faty + NTS would be too slow as a CB pairing.
CB's that have a good reading of the game don't need to be fast. Arguably the best pairing for next season is Sydney's in Wilko/Jurman and neither of them are all that quick. I do like Posco there, he has pace and aggression, but think he may be the RB for a while and we do need cover there.

Dont need to be as fast as outside backs but IMO you can only get away with one slow CB who reads the game well.
I guess we will have to wait and see, it is just a possibility after all anyway. :) I would be happy with a Faty/Posco pairing for the whole season if they both stayed fit but if one was to get injured (or Posco is covering for Storm) we are pretty much in trouble. Definitely still need another CB, and I would be surprised if Rosey going wasn't to free up cash for a specific CB. Whoever we get needs to be good in the air too, we have been very weak at defending set pieces and crosses for a while now, and even GG made us uncomfortable there.

This has bothered me for a while. An area we used to be quite strong in (the air) has become one of our key weaknesses

Last year we were truly truly awful at set pieces. Which was I thought, even if we'd had a very good defensive coach, to be expected with our lineup. L.Rose - Roux - Neill - Posc (Though he leaps well and is strong) - Monty - J Rose, are simply all too small to be dominant. Izzo, Ascroft, McGing, were all far too green and mistake prone - boys against men - though McGing did 'ok' with some clearing headers I thought. And then they were supplemented/supported by players like Austin and Fab, (and initially Fitzy and caceres) who are simply not geared/inclined to compete well in this area... that left Bingham and Roy... imho two of our best geared to defend set pieces were our strikers. Roy has a great vertical leap, is fearless, and judges the flight of the ball well. Bingham good height and strength.

Anyway... schmozzle. Terrified every time the opponents got a corner. But fixing that one area alone would make a big difference. Ivan, NTS, Faty, Posc and Tavares would go a long way to fixing our set piece vulnerability without even doing a single drill.

I think the calls for solid back to basics football are a good strategy. Early balls in general and a bit more direct when teams are looking to press us hard. Solid at the back - where I'd be willing to swap a bit of speed and exposure on the counter for the lack of mistakes, general consistency and good positioning. In attack, get Pain and Fab to the byline as much as possible. Fab likes to cut back inside and use his feet, but more consistent early balls would do more damage imho and make him less predictable when he chooses to do so. Love to see him show a bit more flair with his passing range -lobs and dinks etc, suspect he has the skill. Roy has proven he 's a good finisher and Bingham also to a lesser degree. Powell and L.Rose - the second wave of attack rolling into the box and we should be dangerous enough... let Monty sit deeper with the fullbacks committing less to overlaps - should lessen our exposure on the counter and help fix last years ridiculously porous midfield whenever we get caught out by a turnover. Painful watching teams play through us like traffic cones.

I don't disagree with Luca and coach about the lack of pace between NTS and Faty as a concern, but NTS is actually not that slow once going, quicker than Wilko, but his acceleration is not great. Don't think NTS should be judged in last few games, obviously the wheels were coming off for him over there and on balance he gave a lot of very good service. Seems like a nice guy, suspect he would flourish in our culture and get back to his best. But anyway the word is he's going to Adelaide.
