Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners Squad - HAL 12 - 2016 - 2017

Rosey's on massive coin after signing a two-year contract extension in Jan 2015, that meant he'd be here until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Likewise with others that stated, his form last year was haphazard, with no 'one-game' in particular that you could say that Josh put in a 3-2 or 1 point performance.

I think the club would be be more than happy to let him go to any of the other A-League clubs (without any compensation as well) just to free up some of that coin.

Maybe the new Manager may (blindly hoping) think we really could do with a specialist #10 and convince MC otherwise of his current stance on no more players.

Rosey going would force that hand.
someone out ? - someone in !!!

His been a great clubman for CCM but at 32yo I'd prefer Josh's wage be spent on that 'specialist #10' - rather then watch him go another year wearing the Y&B.

I also highly doubt that Rosey will go to Melb.City and improve to the likes of what say Fitzgerald has and possibly Caceres might ;)

Rosey has been a great club servant for a few years now but is well past his best and if him leaving opens up a space for a quality player then we definitely have an advantage. Micky Neill is well above Rosey in the pecking order and we have Brad MacDonald as back up there. Most likely this leaves the new manager a couple of spots ( we were a bit lean anyway) to bring in a player(s) they want. We really need some positivity to boost membership and team morale.....a good coach and 2 players - a quality number 10, and another CB would do me.

This.
I like Rosey given his service and performances prior to last season, but he has lost a yard of pace and is repeatedly exposed in the air on the far post. Is not a CB. He would be good for us on $100k a year but not the $200k he is on, another desperation signing by Moss in January 2015.
Happy for Micky Neill to make LB his own and stop the experimentation in other positions, Brad McDonald not the greatest back up but if the cap savings could by used by the new gaffer for a dominant #10 that would make the team much more competitive. If this occurred it would be a good move by CCM, probably TW's last involvement.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
so Rose the Elder is offski...that just about eliminates the GF winning team from the roster .....happens much quicker O/S

It's quite likely all this is happening due to the next coach ( who has already been identified) saying I will take the job if we free up some cap and get so and so........we all agree on one thing and that is we need a decent number 10.

J Rose has been one of my favourite players with the Mariners in it's history. Has easily made the LB position in a 'All-time Mariners team' his own.

BUT

With a new coach and possibly the worst attack in the A-league for the last 2 years, if an experienced name in a non-glamour position has to go in order for us to sign a striker or #10, then it has to happen.

Don't care who you end up playing for Rosey, you'll be getting a large round of applause from me wherever you go.

So grateful for everything Josh has given to our club but I'm not sad to see him go in terms of our squad.
He'll be missed as a clubman but as the sentiment in here expresses, this is best for us as a club.

Rosey has been a fantastic club man. Hope he gets a couple more years of good coin but that City under performs. But have to say. Tim is not just an icon, or a goal scorer, he's a leader. Can see him taking City all the way.

Leon Osman has been released by Everton.....very good player.
Steve Sidwell has been released by Stoke on a free and gone to Brighton. If he is on a free transfer could we poach him?
Wes Brown has been released by Sunderland and we need a CB.

With Josh gone we are back to 23 players but I suspect we are well under the floor. Given that we will have to get to the floor and that will mean 1 youngster and their wage not being counted we probably have $250,000 to spend. While I would like to see a #10 I suspect we will spend some money shoring up the defence with another CB come LB.
