ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners Squad - HAL 12 - 2016 - 2017

Good point made by Simon Hill, they have unlimited resources of wealth but fail to sign 'big name' marquee (which doesn't have to come from Man City's 1st team squad) - which would have a massive beneficial effect on City's crowd figures at home & just as importantly for the rest of the league.

But they dont seem to want to spend the dollars on a quality big name yet on the othethand state they want to be in the ACL. Massively mixed message

Oh, and now want the FFA to massage the rules to benefit them in bringing out their young potential rough diamonds, that won't effect crowd numbers- because nobody will have heard of these young player's.

So the only benefit is to them, spending much less on an International Jnr Marquee as opposed to a 'proper' Snr Marquee and no benefit to the rest of the HAL with added bums on seats.

Yes, the rule change would also assist us with the Everton link, BUT every other A-League club will have a link to a big overseas club soon enough that will allow these oversea's clubs to 'foster out' their young talent at their expense.

The benefits that MC and CCM gain from their OS links will be evened- out sooner or later by all the other A-League clubs following suit.

The whole rule change will liken the system to becoming like a 'foreign student exchange' program.

Unfortunately it will also deprive young Australian students of Football less places at the dinner table.

From an SA paper.

We hear that Adelaide are keen on turbocharged winger Mitch Austin, even though he is tied to the Mariners for another season. Given that transfer fees are not allowed between A-League clubs, it will be a test for the Gosford club if Austin decided that trading bottom for top might just be a good career move.

Given the number of players who were allowed to leave last season, any remaining Mariner who was denied permission to seek better options (sorry, that should read [italics]alternative[end italics] options) elsewhere might feel a touch aggrieved.

All this "let's swap xxx for yyy" reminds me of the time someone wanted to swap a piece of KFC they were already eating for a frozen pie out of my freezer.
No deal.

It does leave me wondering a bit actually - where the rumours of Austin going, come from... I mean the other day he was heading for MV, now it's Adelaide... Isn't Perth in the hunt for a MF as well?

I'd be reluctant to let Austin go at all at this stage even for a trade. If he wants out he can suck it up. We gave him a chance and re-ignited his stuttering career. It'd still be in his interest to play his best for us in lining up his next move.

We need depth now - we don't need to be letting our starting 11 go. Definitely not to other A-League clubs.
Until or unless there is some great prospect to replace and we could use the $.

Yeah I'm starting to think along those lines as well. There has to be a limit to the madness and it's starting to feel like they're taking advantage of the old policy of letting them go if they want.
Unless we can get an advantageous trade out of it he can stick it out... Assuming it's not just his agent trying to make Waves

Is it possible he thinks he is better than he is and "deserves" to be at a club that can win things.

Remember, only 12 months ago he was punted by an English park side.

Delusions of super stardom may have turned his head.

Fee from a European or Asian club, player swap of our choice or sit here and rot.

A season on the sidelines and you are off to Wyoming mate.

Play up and we fine you for misbehavior.
He's not nearly as good as he thinks he is despite the gushing rubbish the club says about him.

Is it Austin pushing to leave or others trying to get him. Big difference

On the bright side other teams actually want one of our players.

Austin and Fab would be mad moving on as we are building a guts to help them out. Front line was ok and if we can build a midfield that doesn't need Austin or Fab to track back then why would they leave or be let go now.

Izzo until he is replaced
Roux if recovers Faty Posco Neill
Monty Taveras L Rose
Fab O'Donovan Austin

Is a decent squad. Still has no depth after that but better than current team.
